F1 car info just gone live.

It is a FW19 1997 monocoque with Rothmans livery, with 1998 race parts, 1999 Winfield livery, 2001 BWM Compaq livery, built as a show car, the monocoque is a unused spare.

Which won the world drivers and constructers championship that year, this example being a spare and never used. A pretty cool thing. Way better than an Arrows A18.

Depends on how much he paid and it is generating lots of interest...
I think that this is very much a nail/head interface.

I know nothing about how YouTube pays but I think I’d be surprised if the revenue outweighs whatever it cost and that Tim knew EXACTLY what he was buying and had the ‘story’ planned out from the get-go.
100% this.

No chance he got duped into buying some fake / ex-show car.

It takes about 5 minutes to do basic research and check provenance. Also, so many specialists selling real ones (as linked above) that there is zero chance he didn’t go into this without the story planned out.

Great click bait though. Fair play.

Makes me laugh when he says forner F1 racecar, the closest that has got to a race track is in the back of the trailer.

No chassis plate or any FIA marks, doubt it is even a spare tub.

But no doubt the 50 odd videos that are coming will help pay for it.

Pure clickbait.

Nice B5 RS4 vid @jayemm89 - first proper online content on the cars I’ve seen anywhere for a couple of years

On the reliability / cost side, mine has averaged out about £1500 per year over its lifetime in servicing / maintenance / parts. It’s a standard 68k mile car that’s still serviced by Audi, with an independent to help out for anything else potentially more time consuming. Over all it’s a reliable and corrosion-free car, and while not as dynamic as some of the BMWs I’ve had, it’s way better built than the pre-2007 stuff from Munich. Handles higher Autobahn speeds better too, feeling rock solid at an indicated 170+ when I had it over there

The big issue IME is parts availability, Audi are shockingly bad for it. I still love it though, despite the flaws

As an aside, one of the car mags (possibly Car) took one on an early Gumball, and got chased by Eastern European gangsters in an old Merc S-class, but managed to outrun them

Very good vid!
Always liked those cars.
Jayemm has some very good vids, I have to dive more into the back catalogue when I get some time.

Thanks!

B5 RS4 is one of those reviews that genuinely took about 2 years to finally organise, probably didnt help my perceptions of its reliability.

The back catalogue is also now getting rather large, I will pass 1000 uploads this year. I've had a few people ask me what I will do once I have reviewed "all the cars" and I think the answer is I will just start again, like some sort of YT Forth Bridge.

I also rewatched some of my early videos and they really are awful.

Absolutely no way Tim didn’t know what it was, and most likely a bit of a collaboration between Michelin & him for a few mentions. A lot of automotive photographers & ‘influencers’ are plugging Michelin on Insta lately.

A very cool thing to hang in the barn, but worth nothing & probably not any real appeal from any motorsport fans. Cool wall art though, especially when in race colours

When I visited Classic Team Lotus years ago, they were just taking delivery of an ex Hill F1 car. Lotus did their research, and then told the new owner before Hill drove it, it was Jimmy's car. The car had been sold for good money and nobody had realised the true provenance of it.

I find it very easy to see how something like this could easily be missed/mislabelled etc...

I don’t watch that much car-related content online, I don’t have the time and quite frankly many presenters don’t appeal to me due to over the top mannerisms. I’m probably not the target audience anyway. My viewing is pretty much limited now to yourself, Harry M, Davide Cironi and Jonny Smith’s Late Brake Show

I think you’ve hit upon a very good formula of choosing interesting cars and giving frank reviews/opinions with no perceived “angle”. I very much enjoy it, so please keep up the good work

In a similar vein, Rob Dahm bought an old IndyCar a few months ago and also a Cosworth XD engine to go in it. The idea is to get the car running with an original engine before replacing it with something else.

There have been no further updates - not really that surprising for followers of his channel - but it should be an interesting project when he gets around to it. I suspect that recommissioning the car with the race engine is going to be harder than he thinks and he’ll probably need some specialist help.

Anyone seen Yianni's latest videos where he has bought an attack dog to guard his new house ? Besides being council as fk, how long before the novelty wears off or it bites someone ?

Why do you think it will bite someone? If trained properly they can be great as a pet but also as protection.

I am assuming, but it looks terrifying, and I like dogs.

Even if it is worth nothing he could hang it from the wall or suspend it from the ceiling just for aesthetic value lol

Those things - especially the engines - are a right pain to run and store even when you have the whole working thing in good condition, all the electronics & support kit, a shed full of spares and the knowledge to go with them. The methanol especially will rot them to death in no time if someone forgot to pickle it last time it was run and none of it was made with a long life in mind.

As for the show car - it's a display toy, always was and always will be. Sort of fun if you've got space to spare but mostly pointless - shiny mechanical bits make better decorations.

I thought he'd have used his mate Lenny to provide the security and muscle. He must know a few proper naughty geezers from the East End*

Tbf the company he has got it from are very reputable. A lot of celebs/sports people have them for the same reason. If I had a highly desirable property or was a person more at risk of theft/attack then I would probable have one too. Cost upwards of £30k I believe? Not really “council as fk”. It’s a highly trained protection dog not a status dog.
