I thought he came across very poorly, slagged Take That off, dispensed with GC and the stuff he wrote after that was crap, he said he had the World's biggest panic attack and yet played in front of 70k people.
The Times reviewer hit the nail on the head.

He’s a tedious, withered ‘want monster’
Not sure you watched it properly or understand it. Are you a Sun journalist?

One thing I hate streaming is that whoever hosts the stream can curate what they want you to see and hear.

It is why I bought Fawlty Towers, Little Britain and Come Fly With me on DVD recently. So many little bits get chopped out and sometimes, this is at the detriment of the original intent. With Knebworth, they blocked all the swearing(!) and the entirety of my favourite bit of the show- Me and my Monkey. Will have to buy it on DVD I think.

He didn't slag Take That off, he went as far as to say he treated Gary badly, felt very bad about that and explained why he was unable to deal with the dynamic at the time, and then credited them with helping rebuild his confidence after his breakdow
I spent a lot of time with Gary and his family between 1994 and 2000ish. In the 90's he was at the height of his fame. I would turn up at his house and there would be hundreds of teenage girls standing outside the gates. When we left they would all be trying to see inside our vans and cars because they were convinced we were smuggling him in and out. It was odd to see the mothers of these young girls drop them off and leave them there all day. Gary's brother in law used to bring them food and drinks everyday and umbrellas in the rain. If I had to meet Gary in our shop we would have to do it late at night and with the lights off for fear of being discovered. It was an odd life and I can see how it could be overwhelming to Robbie as he had the same, if not more.

In the late 90's and early 2000's Gary was not in the spot light as much. The girls had gone from his gates and he had built a studio in his house. We would drink coffee with the stars of today and the stars of tomorrow. Gary was much more comfortable in his life then, Chilled and helping the next generation.

I do not know the relationship between Robbie and Gary as Robbie was the only one from Take That I did not spend time with. But, I do know Gary was the nicest and most down to earth person I have met. He was almost too nice. We had several situations where I said "Tell me what you want and not what you think I want to hear". Having said that, he wasn't weak in character, he just was nice.

I couldn't get into the last series at all. Strange as I've really enjoyed the earlier ones.

Diana spoilt the last one for me and no doubt will this one too. It's not the actress, its having to watch that slimeball of a character.

This series of The Crown is being panned by the critics, so you are not alone.

Late to the party as usual but Sex Education has been a brilliant watch. I'm three episodes into the third series. Dreading coming to the end as I've been advised to ditch the 4th series as it's a load of tripe.

I really enjoyed the 4th series. Just as much as the first three

Cold Pursuit with Liam Neeson.

Surprisingly good - and often funny.

Finally got around to watching Midnight Mass.

A lot of it is familiar tropes and reminds of other stuff (particularly a couple of specific films) and a reasonable chunk of what's happening is made obvious quite early, but it's pretty reasonable.

Felt more satisfying towards the end as the early bits felt a bit too slow as there's a lot of setup & character building.

Pretty reasonable entry into the genre it's in.
I think some of the earlier episodes can feel a bit slow but it has some amazing later episodes and moments. Very good imo but not perfect.

I've been really looking forward to the Scott Pilgrim anime. All the original voice actors from the film. It came out yesterday.

But it lacks Edgar Wright's energy from the film and is a retelling of the same story.

Disappointingly underwhelming.

100% with you there on that. Watch the Knebworth gig on Netflix after the doc - its really good. An incredible showman at his peak.

I was at the Knebworth gig, it was immense. Me, the wife and my eldest attended, it was a hot day and my daughter became ill before Robbie came on, I think it was being out in the heat and the sun for so long.

Anyway we got to a medical tent which was out the back, away from the main arena, she had something to drink and being out of the sun she soon became better, however we were told to get back in we'd have to go back to the main entrance, by now the place was full and from originally being near the front we would be at the back. We pleaded and pleaded and finally they relented and let us back in through a side entrance, back to near were we originally were, we just got back in time to see him perform his opening song, Let Me Entertain You, I think it was.

He's a fantastic showman

I seem to remember it was Kelly Osbourne, The Darkness and Moby supporting.

I'd watched In Order of Disappearance before I saw this and didn't think this remake of it was quite as good as the original, but I'll give it a lot of leeway purely of the whole 'Do you have a reservation?' bit at the hotel.

I just binged on the latest series of The Crown.

Pretty good and powerful stuff. It only seems like last week that I was driving to work and heard the news. I thought it was a joke in very poor taste at first.

It is on both counts.
Just finished this on the back of this and similar recommendations. Jeez the conclusion of one of the story arcs is a tough watch.

I'm a sucker for underdogs with archive boxes full of paperwork risking it all to bring down corporate empires.

Great series.

Just finished it too. It's very good.
No surprises at all regarding how it played out, the USA is incredibly corrupt at the highest levels and highly unlikely to change.
