Enjoyed it if a fair bit of filler.

Would have thought though if he was after outright speed, trying a track like Millbrook or Nardo would be a better choice. Back in 2009 they got 311kmh/193mph out of an very modded VW T5 the TH2RS

Don't know the ins and outs of the times but I thoroughly enjoyed that. I didn't think he would do it though, so was surprised when he broke it on the first lap so I suspect someone with proper ring knowledge, a few more laps under their belt and 80kg less ballast would destroy his time but it's not the point.

That was ‘lucky’ those custom brake pads appeared. What’s the chances. They repeated it over and over, so really lucky, and definitely not inserted drama.

The undulations and g forces are bad enough in a car, hustling a van round takes commitment. Another good program by Guy.

Always interesting to watch the C4 stuff.
He did that bike ride from canada to mexico completely off the media radar a few years back. Shame they didn't have a
show about that but I think it was a sort of sleeping in ditches type of affair so not for media luvvies.
Tour Divide, what a crazy man! i guess some stuff he has to keep for the books smile

How picky are we being with the van/ commercial vehicle naming as I’ve been round there in the Ring Mini (a classic van) and we were well into the 8s I think. Sticking with the commercial term, would something like a Holden Maloo ute count? Can imagine them knocking out an 8 something fresh out the box. Similarly with the speed record plenty of American pickups smashing 200mph.

Its always possible to pick holes in the details of this type of program but for me it was a great piece of Sunday evening TV in a sea of dross

My mistake. Then it was a fantastic achievement to beat the record with only a mere 480bhp more.

Yep, good Sunday night TV, of course you could pick holes in it but it was an easy watch. Fast cars/vans and GM, whats not to like. I'm sure it was mainly for the viewers but the bloke explaining apexes to a fairly successful TT racer kind of tickled me somewhat though. At least the quickest motorbike bloke round the nurburgring acknowledged Guys "previous".

Not a bad watch.

Interesting that they were running normal road tyres rather than a proper performance tyre and they didn’t seem to spend much time on setup, which showed up in the brake bias issue.

I reckon they’ve deliberately left some time in it so they can go back if and when someone goes quicker.

It was an ok watch but there was a lot of filler and the end result was a bit underwhelming.

There's a massive amount of time left in that lap both in setup and Guy himself.

Why don’t ford just rock up in this an annihilate the record? I’m sure one of the supervans will be sitting in a museum/collection somewhere and could be made ‘Green Hell’ compatible without much effort?
