Mutant X a Marvel Superhero series from the early noughties. It runs X-Men a bit close which when you think about it is a bit odd but it is a bit different.

Quick question for Amazon users - should the Jack Ryan series be showing in 4K? I'm streaming it through a Shield and am only getting 1080p. It's not connection related and I can't see a setting to change.

I thought Bosch was 4K HDR too but that's only coming up 1080p too.

We are getting Jack Ryan in 4k but we had to search for it, it didn't just come up when entering Jack Ryan. Hubby says it may show as UHD as well not 4k.

Bosch is also definitely in 4k

Hubby has just said can your box actually handle the 4K

Yes, it's a decent 4K HDR capable set (Sony XE9305) and I've watched a lot of 4K content on it. And the Shield (streaming device) can certainly handle 4K too.

I know Amazon can be buggers for hiding away their 4K content, but when I searched I only got one result for Jack Ryan - it wasn't showing up separately for me. I'll try through the TV's built in Prime App (also Android TV based...but worse) and see if the issue is with the Shield.

We also only had 1080p option for Jack Ryan on the amazon app direct, tv is an LG OLED 4k and usually amazon has 4k options separate, I tried searching but couldn’t see any options for it in 4k so just watched in 1080p instead, my wife and I enjoyed it and ended up binging it over the weekend.

Same here (LG app on 4k OLED). Normally Amazon have "(Ultra HD)" on their 4k. Haven;t managed to find one for JR.

I'll ck with OH to see how he actually found it and let you know, we watched the first few episodes in 1080 until he took another look for the 4K.

It’s definitely there, I just finished it in 4K. The menus are a bit awkward. Amazon seem to have Dolby Vision like Netflix now.

I will double check it tonight when home on mine, I'm in Austria so everything is in German which makes it a bit more difficult to navigate, but I can usually work out what the menus are at least with my basic German skills! I did a search for it originally though and there was only one version available when we started watching, usually they have a separate 4k version and a German and Original version as well.

The thing that annoys me the most is that on the 'Original Version' they have German subtitles by default, I normally quite like this as it helps improve my German a little, however when a lot of the film/TV series is already in another language I need English subtitles to fully understand it, when I switched these on in Jack Ryan they were over the top of the default German ones which there was no way of turning off and it made it very difficult to read them properly! Amazon really need to up their video streaming game, the menus and things like this put me off using it most of the time, if it wasn't for the prime delivery I would have given it up by now.

I'm really enjoying Jack Ryan - got me tempted to read the books, I think "the hunt for red october" is the first one, anyone on here read it, dare I ask?

Jumped into Ozark S2 last night.

To be honest we should have watched the end of S1 again, because we'd basically completely forgotten where it had left off, and spent most of the time trying to remember who'd done what to whom.
Unless I am missing something, I don't see Ozark S1 or S2 on Prime.

The books are brilliant...there is a published order and a timeline order, so depending on how you want to read it you can go different ways.

That's great, thank you! Any idea what would be best, publication or timeline? I'm inclined to go by publication date....?

Personally I would kick off with Red Storm Rising. What a book that is! Then get into Red October and so on and so forth.
