She has had the income, so why didn't she put aside 40% to pay the future tax bill?
Living, perhaps? HMG haven't been particularly generous to the self employed and contractors.I would imagine she has been able to earn decent money over the years, more than most anyway. It’s difficult to feel too much sympathy.

The Bucks Fizz singer, 66, admitted things are so bad her former Dancing On Ice partner has stepped in and offered to lend her money.
And her fans have also started a whipround to help out after hearing about Cheryl's struggle amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Cheryl, who soared to fame after winning Eurovision Song Contest in 1981, said her finances have taken a huge hit lately.
Crippling lockdown restrictions have meant Cheryl has not earned any money from gigs and events since last October.

No sympathy here. You earn it, you keep some aside ready for your bill.
Yes, my heart doesn't bleed for skint celebs who, unlike the rest of us, spent everything they earnedwhen times were good, and forgot that one day, when times were bad, they would face the ire of the Taxman.
Anyway, Cheryl missed the chance with me in the 1980s, had she married me, well, let's just say
that boat has long sailed, she will look back at her decision with regret as she queues up down the Salvation Army Kitchen.

Nick Hancock, whatever happened to him after his brief quizmaster career?
He used to live about a mile and a half from me on the Cheshire/Staffordshire borders and was frequently seen around the village and in the one and only shop. He was/is a very friendly and down to earth guy who’d always have time to chat to anyone who recognised him. He moved a couple of years ago (I think to Shrewsbury where he was educated) when his house finally sold after being on the market for a few years. It was a beautiful country manor house full of lovely antiques (antiques being one of his interests outside football).
He still frequently appears on Radio Stoke commenting on Stoke City.
