Amazing there is a daily truck doing that run as well.
Not sure it's a daily run, it was booked specifically for that run, they just have a lot of trucks doing it.

It's the irony of signing up for environmental subsidies for his farm and using it to pay for fuel for the Countach...
Does this mean my taxes are paying for Harry driving the Countach? I finally have a reason to enjoy filling in my tax form ;-).

The farm is a business, and those environmental “subsidies” are what our government has decided farmers have to do if they want to run their farm as a business - you won’t run a Countach on a few hundred acres worth of it.
You won't run one on the fuel that amount of land could produce either, which is rather why the whole synthetic fuel thing is a ruse. But its importance is to fob off the kind of eco nutters who, in the future, may descend upon the homes of higher profile old car users frown. Too many nutters for motorsport and people like Harry to not partake.

I really enjoyed it, lovely scenery and roads but £9k to get the cars transported yikes
Must be north of 20k all in for the trip when all said and done.

Suppose you could third that if you're not covering everything which Harry seemed to be doing.

It's a rich man's game, I'll stick to 10hrs on the Autoroutes for 3 or 4 hundred quid.

imagine You tube revenue would more than pay for the trip
Harry's video is doing reasonably well (as it should! great stuff), but I daresay pure revenue wouldn't even pay for one night's hotel room and a tank of fuel let alone the whole trip.

Finally watched this week’s video, and all I can say after cycling many of those roads is a Countach is probably the last car I’d want to take on them.

The 911 was a much better fit, and I’m sure HM would have enjoyed the Mallorca part of his trip more in his. Or the Zagato etc., but I get that he wanted to drag one of his big 12-cyl beasts round there.

It's a shame we didn't see more of the 911, arguably the best drivers car of the trip, certainly the most engaging I would have thought, with the least width and the best visibility from the cabin.

Are you kidding? Let's be imaginitive here -- Harry should BUY a transporter and get Charlie to drive it down!
Have a look here https://racecarsdirect.com/Category/Details/21/rac...

My only caveat to having your own 4 or 6 car trailer is what do you do with it the other 350 days of the year? Where do you park it when you are at the destination? The old adage "If it flys, floats or fks, rent it." Comes to mind.

The point of renting a transporter is that its a flat fee per mile, so as he pointed out they were paying for 3 cars, but the truck had a capacity of 6. The drop off/pick up point may have been factored in to improve the return leg or next pick up of a busy logistics company.
But there is a sweet spot or Venn diagram of cost per mile, time especially when you have multiple cars or people.

I thought a while back Harry bought himself a small transporter truck. Am I imagining that?

He did, but it's only a one or two car transporter, IIRC, so wouldn't have been suitable for this trip anyway.

Just catching up on Harry's Garage after being away- wow that was a great video. I always love Harry's road trips and this one did not disappoint. Those of us who have watched Harry's journey through his Performance Car and EVO years feel a bit of a bond with that Countach so its great that he not only keeps it, but drives it in anger, as it was intended. I came across an old Top Gear episode on BBC3 the other day which I had forgotten about. The one where James May drove Harry's Countach (before Harry was a you tube celeb lol). I think anyone my age who grew up in 70s or 80s is likely to have a soft spot for the Lambo.

In your opinion, i wouldn't have guards red 911 SC Cabrio as a anchor point in engagement and best drivers car. It made a lovely luggage car lets be honest. The Countach isn't that big, heavy steering yes, but its not huge. A 911 Cabrio is like wearing a hoodie.

Yes a small sports car would have been better, but I would have probably recommended Harry take his 70s Jap Motorbikes there instead.

They're a work out to drive and a spinal trauma due to the pedals being in the passenger footwell so use it for silly trips before the inevitable aches and pains of life catch up with you. And a dab of throttle gets this type of car round slow tight turns easily enough.

It needs a clutch kick for that, and I think Harry has too much mechanical sympathy to do that in his own cars. Other journalists, though...

It’s a cool thing - we passed it on the autoroute on the way back from Le Mans one year, gave us a blast on the air horns.

I really enjoyed that episode and was glad the transport costs were explained as I had no idea how much that sort of thing would cost.

Amazing there is a daily truck doing that run as well.

I hired an Alpine A110 when in Mallorca last year and loved it. I drove the MA10 once during the day and there were a lot of cyclists out but I still enjoyed the road. A couple of days later I got up at 6am and did a bakery run 90 mins each way and on the way west I passed a handful of cars coming towards me and only came across one other car heading the same direction as myself.
That sounds like a great idea.

How much if you don't mind me asking?
