Good films I watched this weekend
Discussion
Missed it at the cinema, but christened my Pioneer LX5090 with Valkyrie last night. Good romp, fairly accurate, huge amount of extras on the blu ray disc.
Picture quality awesome, sound window & wall shaking.
Followed it up with Man On Wire which was a pretty good documentary, about the high wire stunt between the twin towers in 1970, just maybe not quite as good as the hype, to say it was nominated for an oscar.

Oops - should have posted my Role Models viewing in here rather than setting up a new thread.
Well, as said in the thread, it had some funny lines and a typical heart-warming story about geeky kid who wins the girl etc.
Not a classic in comparison to the likes of Old School, Anchorman, Step Brothers etc.

don't know why i hadn't seen this sooner, very good film. i have seen a few films with tom wilkinson in recently and he's a great actor. the film also has 'the greek' from the wore playing a loan shark.
also watched 'the weatherman' which is average, but well worth watching simply for the scene where michael caine discusses his grandaughter's camel toe!

i agree with it being nic cage's best film, laregely because he made an effort to speak through his mouth.
i just thought it came across as hollywood trying to do indie, and also try to be a 'message' film. in all honesty, just not my cup of tea. i would watch it again for michael caine's bits though, he steals it.

recently:
bad education - an almodovar film. well shot and good in parts but the story was a bit hackneyed with a poor ending. should have looked into this before renting, was a bit too gay for me.
little miss sunshine - rented as per recommendation here. better than i thought it'd be, grandpa should have been in it more.
nil by mouth - hard to watch in parts, but worth it. 'gritty' doesn't do it justice.

Watched "crossing over", new film that has been accused of copying the format of "Crash".
It's about how immigrants try to gain legal status in the US, and how the lives of these people intersect with others that are followed in the film, e.g. Harrison Ford plays an immigration enforcement officer or something.
Good 7.5/10 film imho
Got "Thick as Thieves" with Morgan Freeman in to watch this weekend, will update with view later.
