I'm just trying to spot the plant at this point....
Oh and hoping people don't start calling me 'cue-ball' - like its 1987 or something!

There has been last few series so it's pretty likely I would say.

I spent half my career working with the US forces and I can confirm there are quite a few characters like this.

Brits tend to naturally turn the volume down on everything while there are a few yanks who have a default setting of eleven. Funny thing is the Brit instructors on the show have done their best over the years to make themselves more televisual and 'hollywood' but I guess the producers wanted Americans who are born naturals at glamorising this sort of stuff.

Not sure if it is right for Brit audiences though, maybe they wanted greater world wide appeal for the show.

Laughed when Keanu on roids first made his appearance, then he quickly became annoying. Not sure I can watch a whole series of him.

It must be bad as even the wife just asked if we are watching it next week. I think she's missing Ant...

If only we could have a group of contenders with no underlying issues?
Just fit people from all walks of life wanting a crack at it.
I was surprised no-one got dropped from the first episode!
“SAS: Are you tough enough” which was on the years ago and presented by dermot O’Leary was far better. No sob story in the background, just properly fit civilians. It used to be on YouTube.
The first series of this was perfect. Based in Wales, replicated selection more accurately. Just a bunch of fitness people testing themselves. Then it just suffered from the making things bigger and better and that's when all the sob stories came in and it's been downhill ever since.

It's a real shame they've cocked up the new people. Billy in charge makes more sense. He outranked the others when he was in the forces and has more experience than anyone. Him, Foxy and a couple of other quieter people would have been better.
I won’t be watching this series. I didn’t mind Ant too much but thought he was a bit too OTT loud. If his American replacement is noisier, it’s a definite no from me. Shame, because I always thought the walk quietly, carry a big stick thing was more impressive.

Once they’ve filmed the U.K. version with 2 Brit and 2 US “staff” do they then record the US version with Foxie as the chief instructor?

Mark 'Billy' Bingham is keeping busy as he's also in the Australian version of the show along with Ant, Jason Fox, Ollie Ollerton, Clint Emerson and Dean Stott.

I agree with all of this.

I've also been involved with the Americans. I was even balled-out by one of these "I only do 11" guys - the only thing I could think was "mustn't laugh, don't laugh, mustn't laugh, don't laugh". My 1,000yd, don't-blink, non-reaction to his verbal assault seemed to wind him up even more. Oh dear, what a shame, never mind smile .

I think the programme is now being aimed at the much greater sized audience of the US of A.

If there is one way to destroy a programme, it's to aim it at the Americans. It will make the producers richer, and that's why they do it.

Agreed just wait for the (increased) staged drama and phony cliffhangers "You just won't believe what happens next, on the most shocking episode ever!!!"

Hmmmm.

Not sure about the American DS, the new lead guy in particular is really really annoying. Getting through a whole series might be a battle.

This sums it up pretty well especially with a few trout pouts chucked in for good measure.

It's almost like they want us to join in - who will be the first to VW?

TBH, after just finishing the first episode, I've not found the new DS (Rudy) anywhere near as bad as I was expecting after reading about him on here, I found Ant worse to bear, he was just becoming a caricature of himself and was embarrassing.

Big mistake from the producers replacing Brits with Yanks. Can't stand the lead Yank, he's like a caricature of Ant with the amp turned up to 11. I'll probably keep watching as the setting in Jordan is new and different to previous locations. Billy and Foxy have always been the best thing in it so it's not a write off just yet.
