SAS: Who Dares Wins
Discussion
I spent half my career working with the US forces and I can confirm there are quite a few characters like this.
Brits tend to naturally turn the volume down on everything while there are a few yanks who have a default setting of eleven. Funny thing is the Brit instructors on the show have done their best over the years to make themselves more televisual and 'hollywood' but I guess the producers wanted Americans who are born naturals at glamorising this sort of stuff.
Not sure if it is right for Brit audiences though, maybe they wanted greater world wide appeal for the show.

If only we could have a group of contenders with no underlying issues?
Just fit people from all walks of life wanting a crack at it.
I was surprised no-one got dropped from the first episode!
“SAS: Are you tough enough” which was on the years ago and presented by dermot O’Leary was far better. No sob story in the background, just properly fit civilians. It used to be on YouTube. Just fit people from all walks of life wanting a crack at it.

It's a real shame they've cocked up the new people. Billy in charge makes more sense. He outranked the others when he was in the forces and has more experience than anyone. Him, Foxy and a couple of other quieter people would have been better.

I agree with all of this.Brits tend to naturally turn the volume down on everything while there are a few yanks who have a default setting of eleven. I've also been involved with the Americans. I was even balled-out by one of these "I only do 11" guys - the only thing I could think was "mustn't laugh, don't laugh, mustn't laugh, don't laugh". My 1,000yd, don't-blink, non-reaction to his verbal assault seemed to wind him up even more. Oh dear, what a shame, never mind .
I think the programme is now being aimed at the much greater sized audience of the US of A.
If there is one way to destroy a programme, it's to aim it at the Americans. It will make the producers richer, and that's why they do it.

Big mistake from the producers replacing Brits with Yanks. Can't stand the lead Yank, he's like a caricature of Ant with the amp turned up to 11. I'll probably keep watching as the setting in Jordan is new and different to previous locations. Billy and Foxy have always been the best thing in it so it's not a write off just yet.
