The driving bit was a bit silly as they had only the one possible "pass" but when someone tried to swerve to the side or reverse they would have failed but these could have been exit routes....and they would have been hit that close by the small arms fire anyway.
Yeah I also thought that was a strange task. Ram a barrier (might have been solid metal) and potentially burst the rad or reverse and try to get away from the gunfire.

Would love to have seen the risk assessment on that task, plenty of opportunities for it to have gone badly wrong!!

I'm liking this series, a lot of that is the scenery. I'm not sure I could have taken another series of raining Scotland.

It's nice to have a change, but I lament the loss of the nippily ladies in cold wet Scotland.

To paraphrase Stevenson - 'Scotland is where the delicate die early and those that remain envy them their fate' - perfect commando country smile

Any thoughts on the final episode, aired last night? Interesting that all of the men failed.

Angry Keanu seems to have mellowed very slightly as the season has progressed. I'm generally glad I've persevered with it.

Has anyone got any background on who the interrogators actually are? Surprisingly, there seems to be next to no info online about "Debs" and "Dilksy" who have so far featured in quite a few seasons.

If they were genuine interrogators, what sort of background would they have? Guessing military or MI5/6 rather than police due to the aggressive tactics used. Training staff maybe?

I did wonder if they were actors but I guess there would be more about them online.

So an all female final and winners then. The men couldn't stand the stress positions (that'd do me in). The girl who hung on the longest on the bar over the drop had some real determination.
Noticed there was no spy in the camp in this series too.

Good point about the lack pf a spy/mole in tne group, I'd forgotten how there usually is one.

Why can't the Umpire be identified? He's a guy you go to after you've VW'd. I don't get it.

Having a TV presence possibly can't be helpful attracting muppets in the street or pub.

How do people get into that line of work? Hardly going to be on the job centre wall. I'm guessing mostly ex-military onto specialist contracting.

My conclusion after watching this show is that the ideal soldier into the elite military eating billy goat puke food forces is someone with a compact and light physique like a woman.
Must be why the Vietcong gave the usa such a hiding.
Im suprised that big xman fella is still alive. You wouldn't even have to be a good shot to hit him.
In fact the 'compact' tom cruise is probably more realistic than the fantasy in peoples heads of a jack reacher 8ft monster lumbering around into a hail of bullets.
No wonder nobody liked this latest series lol.

Ah thanks, that's interesting. It just seemed strange to me how none of the interrogating staff appear to have any real online presence, not even surnames.

Might be for their personal safety but that begs the question of why go on telly in the first place.

Alternatively maybe they're just not interested and only want to do the show.

If they still do it as a real job with real soldiers it probably comprises them if someone they are interrogating has seen them and their 3 kids on holiday in Tenerife.

I'm not sure physique comes into it. The instructors seem to vary in size, I knew a bloke who's been in the SBS and he was built like a brick outhouse.

Watched first few episodes last night, thought it was actually OK but it is, by necessity I guess, really formulaic now.

Agreed. All the ones that I've met (probably about half a dozen) have been what you would call "normal", but obviously very fit. If there is a give-away, it would be tight facial skin. It's also true about them being "grey men". Definitely NOT fighter pilots smile .

I've probably mentioned it before but I went on a training day run by some ex SAS/SBS. We met in a car park in Wales. As I drove in there was a group of people, some in army gear. But it was instantly clear who the ex SAS guy was. Wasn't huge, tall, thin athletic build, but something in the way he stood and looked he just looked proper fking hard, but in a low key way. Was a really nice chap.

I guess it can be similar to many successful or ‘loaded’ folk?

Those that have (or know/feel they have) nothing to prove behave as you would expect….

Those others try a bit too hard?
