Netflix - What gems have you found?
Discussion
I'll assume its been covered (but not in the last 10 pages) but I thought Cosmos was excellent.
An American made documentary series that points and laughs at creationists, almost.
Great to watch in HD on a big telly.
Produced by the producers of Family Guy and Star Trek as a side note.

Just finished watching Spotless. Really enjoyed it, darkly humorous at times in an 'In Bruges' sort of way. I thought Brendan Coyle was excellent, series 2 given the green light as I understand.
Another vote for Spotless... was brilliant and yes the Brendan Coyle character was superb. Bit differnt to Bates from Downturn Abbey Edited by Dr Banjo on Thursday 29th September 17:28

When does Stranger Things start getting good? I'm about 3-4 episodes in and can't say I'm hooked yet...it's just about watchable so far but I don't find myself desperate to watch the next episode each time one ends. Wondering at what point I should say 'if I'm not into it by now, I'm not going to get into it.'
It doesn't. Give up now.I actually disliked it and gave up after 3 episodes.
Every character was a cliche and annoying.
I can't even remember the early episodes as I thoroughly enjoyed it all and binge watched with no trouble.
I would say it does accelerate, but with more of the same feel as the early episodes.

Some motoring type stuff I've enjoyed;
Highway through hell; follows a Canadian breakdown and heavy recovery company, some right characters in it and some jaw dropping crashes / recoveries they have to deal with.
Head to head; available online / u-tube also but they do the stuff that PH'ers will be interested in. Lots of super / hyper car shoot outs and a fair bit of this is done at Laguna Seca.
Roadkill; Californian hot rodders doing insane road trips and are very hands on. For example on one trip they pull up and do an engine transplant in the car park of what would be Halfords in the snow, using the logic that it will be quicker to get parts. Nutters.
Highway thru Hell is deffo one of the better reality truck shows , I run the Coq quite frequently or sometimes highway 5 (the canyon) depending on the weather , this show tells it like it is( freakin dangerous at the wrong time) unlike Ice Road Truckers which happens to be the most cobbled together bks ever produced .Highway through hell; follows a Canadian breakdown and heavy recovery company, some right characters in it and some jaw dropping crashes / recoveries they have to deal with.

And I was beginning to think I'm the only one to have seen it. Living over there must be very nice indeed although a little dangerous at times! Netflix here in the UK only has the first two (I think) series. I hope they add some more soon, I watched all that was available over here in quick succession! Very addictive real reality TV. I had heard that the crusty old fella had passed away, what a character he was!
Well worth a watch. Nutters the lot of them.

Started watching Stranger Things and thought it wasnt for me.
However, after appreciating the 80's throwback references etc. and the look and feel I thought it did ok.
Certainly seen worse for my Netflix sub.
8/10 ... pretty good ending
How does your scoring work? 8/10 is a high mark for such an indifferent sounding review. However, after appreciating the 80's throwback references etc. and the look and feel I thought it did ok.

The Big Short. A film of the Martin Lewis novel, sorry ok it isn't fiction. enjoyed both.
Margin Call is also good. It's basically a single night inside one of the firm's when the crash is happening - a view from the other side of The Big Short basically. Kevin Spacey, Jeremy Irons, Zachary QuintoEdited by Bit of a Unit on Tuesday 27th September 15:07
