BBC Top Gear Thread 2021/2022
Discussion
A phone call luckily interrupted my viewing while they were doing the tiresome who can drive round the quarry trope.
Till then I was wondering about all the glowing praise pre-leaked. The bbc have decided to join the fake news influencer crowd it seems.
Dull cricketer has taken over the bullying the bloke that's told to act like norman wisdom.
Its all passive aggressive nonsense. Kick up the arse then your my mate stuff.
Maybe it improves after this bit so I will give it another go .
Worth remembering they sacked Clarkson for laying hands on a crew member.
The 3 that went to amazon gave each other grief in verbal and humorous ways. Dont recall any kicking or pushing
and they injured themselves quite independently of each other doing silly things.

Eh ?
Mesrseyside ( as a county ) did not exist until 1974 and I wouldn't describe Liverpool as a small town ! It's much larger than Wigan/ Bolton/ Oldham, etc).
Population circa 900,000 (Merseyside region which is compact geographically is 1.4 million) and plenty of people do call themselves Merseysiders !
What else would you expect them to call themselves ? They haven't been part of Lancashire for 45 years !
there are people in this world older than 45 years of age and they do identify themselves as Lancastrians Mesrseyside ( as a county ) did not exist until 1974 and I wouldn't describe Liverpool as a small town ! It's much larger than Wigan/ Bolton/ Oldham, etc).

In Merseyside ?The only ones who may identify as Lancastrians are people from Southport.
Anyone else will identify as a scouser.
Conversely, Lancastrians living in Skem ( in Lancashire ) will identify as scousers.

no they don't at all believe me I should know. "Scouser" is not something everyone identifies with particularly as its used as a negative description by many people. The only ones who may identify as Lancastrians are people from Southport.

Exactly. Car geeks need to get onto the Carfection channel. This is sunday evening family viewing for the masses. Most replies seem to fall on the 'its good' side. Let's hope it gets even better.

I like cars ,I like engineering ,I like any documentaries about super trains, bridges, aeroplanes, big buildings, ships ,I couldn’t give a toss who presents it I’ll watch them all ,how it’s made ,all good stuff ,so stop winging the lot of you ,,,,,,,,,,yes I’m ok hun
This was pretty much what people were saying at the beginning of the very short lived "Chris Evans Era".at least it didn't feel stilted. I am OK that they pushed the format further into 'banter', and used some people who might actually get on and aren't just vaguely sort of funny when they are following a script (or in some cases, not funny at all. The more ad-lib style definitely worked better for me as since Clarkson et al departed it has felt incredibly wooden and unnatural. It has to be something vaguely enjoyable to watch before anything else, i think.

Indeed. I wasn't sure getting rid of Rory was a good move, but maybe the dynamic wasn't right. Why they got rid of Rory is a mystery too.
Harris was until recently the most unlikeable presenter on the show.
Full confession: I wanted to hate these presenters.
Full disclosure: Though Welsh, from age 9-12, I was raised in Lancashire and the next 6 years on the Wirral.
After full consideration: I think they nailed it and nobody is more surprised by that, than me.
I think the chemistry was there, even with Harris who has previously been a wooden post. They can still ruin it with SIA sh*t car and can destroy it with Sabine Screechowl. I hope they watch this back and don't crap on the plate.

Skelmersdale was built as on overflow from Kirkby. You don't get much more "scouse" than Kirkby.
You'll be telling me that people from Kirkby identify as Lancastrians next - because Brian Blessed patrolled Kirkby (known as Newtown in the series) in his Z-car with Lancashire Constabulary written on the side
