From clips I've seen she looks very good.

She's not awful though she does appear to be doing some weird 80's robot dance towards the end. Her role doesn't really give much to do. However, for a working model to get the role as the lead villain in a summer FX blockbuster struck me as an odd choice.
She's one of the two lead heros in Luc Besson's forthcoming sci-fi pic...

I'll be watching it this week, so I'll see.

There have been people placed in films on far less...and yip, most stink...
The Rock pops into my head as someone who has the ability not to stink, but he chooses lazy stty parts. Real shame, but he makes money.

As with all these films the screenplay and the story make or kill these films. There were some bold choices to be made with this film. The term anti hero is overused and diluted. We could perhaps have seen some characters with no redeeming qualities who were proper 'bad guys' doing some good. I'm not sure they'd have got Will Smith signing on to a Deadshot written like that.

The main villain is underwritten, under explored and just wasted.

Watched it yesterday

No prior real knowledge of SS

Enjoyed it. Entertaining couple of hours, although the story was weak.

Lots of Easter Eggs for future tie ins

Good intro of characters backgrounds for those new to them

Excellent soundtrack

Some hilarious moments

Don't like The Joker this incarnation, just didn't 'feel' right to me.

Watched it on Friday and although it failed to live up to the hype, it was still an enjoyable watch.

Margot Robbie was very good as HQ. The soundtrack was superb. I think the Leto incarnation of the Joker has a lot of potential, I'm looking forwards to seeing more of him in that role. Deadshot was a bit more muted as Will Smith who was more of a reluctant bad guy than a hired gun. I thought he was quite good and brought some funny one liners with him. The other characters weren't really explored enough but that seems to be the way of DC's adaptations, still trying to play catch up with Marvel and it shows.

The generic foot soldier type bad guy was annoying though. Just pointless fodder to get the body count up. That needed a bit more imagination.

It was pretty average. All the DC film and TV stuff compares so poorly with Marvel's output, with the exception of the Nolan and Burton Batman films.

Way to much effort to set up redemption and goodness for the characters.

Affleck might be able to make a decent Batman film if the studio and Snyder don't interfere.

I think we've probably peaked with Civil War, Deadpool and season 2 Daredevil.

Strange possibly...but I am leading towards the same viewpoint. I reckon there'll be the odd gem turfed out, but most will be mediocre fair.

I have hopes for Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

Marvel have had quite a lot of time to get the tone right - Iron Man was released in 2008 and the expectations at the time were not sky-high. DC are having to dive in and get it 100% right first time.

Batman Begins was 2005. So they've actually had longer to get it right.

Its a shame because DC has far better heroes and villains than Marvel.

For me, Marvel had/has the more interesting characters. Beyond Batman, there is nothing in DC to interest me. I got tired of Marvel retreading the same stories years ago though.
But in film at least...some are still fresh...not the ones that Sony/Fox seem to be intent on constantly rebooting though. biggrin

The Keaton one was 1989!

DC have had a long time and have never got their act together and in playing catch up they keep messing it up. They are trying to get to where Marvel are right now and seemed to have missed the 8 years of fully joined up thinking that has them where they are now. For me it's why the films and tv aren't working very well as characters are shoe horned in to launch the next film and it doesn't quite fit.

Anyway, still enjoyed the film but not a touch on Marvel stuff.

I'm with you in all but your opinion of Joker, I thought he was a pretty good modern take on the character, under used, but good nonetheless.
I'm not that interested in the whole DC have cocked up and are rushing things vs Marvel are amAAZin' discussion.
For me they're almost bringing different things to the screen whilst relying on the same idea - ie cominc books.
Marvel is all bright and colourful, bouncy, funny, low risk to hero stuff - quite light, no real darkness.
DC are offering almost the opposite, dark, grimy offerings, a sense that things will not go well...I mean they (tried to) inject some humour and colour with varying success. I wished Nolan could be employed more to keep some common 'feel' as it certainly appears the arc and the characters have a long way to go..it should build nicely...
Anyway on the whole as a cinema go'er who has not invested any time in understanding the 'cannon', the history, the 'belief' in their powers and that "that shouldn't be possible' stuff... I just seek entertainment..
I really enjoyed SS
I enjoyed BvS ultimate edition
I really enjoyed Man of Steel.
I've enjoyed all of Marvel stuff...maybe except Thor's stuff in hindsight...(but wondering if they're not reaching their plateau/saturation point now...)

Despite all of the negative reviews it's just broken the Box Office record for an opening weekend in August! yikes

It's even beat the Guardians of the Galaxy opening weekend in August 2014.

Obviously it won't last as word of mouth spreads that at best it's merely 'OK'.

Even so I'll bet Marvel are dumbfounded hehe

Complete opposites. No one expected anything from Gaurdians, word of mouth meant it got stronger as time went on.
Suicide squad is the opposite. Massive 41% drop from Friday to Saturday. It will disappear when the next big film is released.

Expect the secret life of pets to out perform this within a week or so.

Huge numbers for August, not all that far off BvS really which is incredible.

Ultimately, it works out, good films do do well....

sad thing is, the suits are after big weekends, and can reap back cash in China/DVDs...and everyone wants a franchise now. The genie is out of the bag.
Everybody trying to wring that last drop of liquid gold from a totally dry towel.
