Just saw the trailer for the new series
"James May puts things back together. Very slowly"
Looks like a motorbike, a model train and some kind of audio equipment. Starts on Wednesday the 28th - I can't wait!
I understand the model train is his own model Flying Scotsman."James May puts things back together. Very slowly"

I found watching it very relaxing and pleasant.
The trailers did make me smile - pleasingly FU response to people saying they were bored
Good job we aren't all the same.
Most TV these days leaves me cold. So much of it is empty and vacuous. It was really nice to see a chap like me doing stuff I could identify with - and to have a sense of humour doing it.
Chaps like me don't turn up on telly too often - so it was gratifying to see.

Can't stand "it's cool to be stupid", which permeates modern life. Used to annoy the tits off me when May would start talking about something on TG to get stopped - I know it was scripted for that but was so annoying.
Love The Reassembler. Interesting and very tongue in cheek

Absolutely - 'anything that isn't a loud explosion or a powerslide is boring'Can't stand "it's cool to be stupid", which permeates modern life. Used to annoy the tits off me when May would start talking about something on TG to get stopped - I know it was scripted for that but was so annoying.

Very much enjoyed that. 'That's a screw as it goes through one part and is captive in another - not that you actually care'
I care James. I care.
If you aren't the sort of person who likes to poke about with machines - this probably isn't for you.
I found it intelligent and interesting.
In fairness no one would like intelligent and boring - because they found it boring.....and you found this boring, fair enough.
But I don't think you can talk in terms of binary and use boring as one side - because that's a totally objective thing.
Did you mean quiet?

I want to buy a pair of these:

Not sure what I would use them on, but that's hardly the point.

Let's hope someone at the Beeb has read the suggestions I made on Page 5 of this thread.
Oh dear, they didn't.But it's still an interesting programme for all that and I agree it could have lasted an hour. A bit more explanation of how an electric motor actually works would have been a good idea, because it is an important principle which is also used in generators, microphones, guitar pickups, loudspeakers etc. I'm familiar with that motor because it was also used in early Scalextric cars before being replaced by the more powerful 'can' type. Unfortunately with those, everything's inside and you can't see it working!

That screw v bolt discussion gave me a chuckle. The NAS bolts I use wouldn't agree. Very much enjoyed that. 'That's a screw as it goes through one part and is captive in another - not that you actually care'
