Star Trek: Discovery - New series on Netflix
Discussion
I have watched both now and on the whole, I did enjoy it. However, I really want this to be successful, and I feel that in order for to continue for multiple seasons, the producers really need to tone down the blatant SJW bullst. I am not talking about female leads (that's cool with me), I am talking about the fact that the Klingons are clearly a mirror (at least, how the writers see it) on Trump and his supporters.
I have no real love for trump (or Hillary, for that matter, both quite bad), but if Hollywood continues to be so partisan in almost everything it produces, I fear the decline in Hollywood and TV will continue on a downward spiral, and I really want this new STD (!) to continue for a good few years.

The Klingons are an analogy of Trump and his supporters..
They've been about since the 60's
I know, but if Hollywood film and TV producers continue to ps off half of their potential audience, what's going to happen to the films and TV we love? They've been about since the 60's
Look what's happened to Marvel comics and the NFL in a very short period of time. They should entertain, not preach.

Its the Klingons.
You're seeing stuff that just isn't there.

Can you not do a quick search yourself? Here's one:

The point I was trying to make is this, if Hollywood film and TV producers continue down this path of demonising half of their potential viewers (whether right or left-leaning), they may well end up virtue-signalling themselves of existence as rating drop.
I want STD (!) to continue for 7 seasons, not 4 like Enterprise (which I also like,, have the BR box sets for all ST series)

So an out of context quote by a junior member of the production crew? Here's one:

Some people are trying hard to find some 'offence' here...

This is strange, I looked only three days ago, and the quote come directly from the actual producers of the show, which seem to have now gone missing 9or broken links) on the net searches. Some people are trying hard to find some 'offence' here...
I am not sure if there's a genuine mistake or possible damage limitation in the light of the NFL backlash that wasn't expected. the quote was definitely from the actual producer, though.

The series addresses identity politics, and liberal imperialism, amongst other things. It is not about Trump.
Sigh. OK, this is the last post I do relating to this political matter.I had stated that I raised this issue because I had read about it, pretending it's not about Trump is denial:

one article from many that took less than 5 seconds to search said:
Aaron Haberts, a co-executive producer on the show, told the outlet that Donald Trump's candidacy was "front and center in our minds" when they started putting the series together in 2015.

A Klingon on "Star Trek: Discovery."CBS
Haberts said one of the antagonist groups on "Star Trek: Discovery" is an extremist Klingon sect, whose rallying cry, "Remain Klingon," the show made intentionally similar to Trump's "Make America Great Again" slogan.
Also, as I have already stated, I love Star trek and I want it to be very popular. It won't be if they make episodes too SJW-ish, and if it doesn't get the ratings, it'll be canned and we all lose out. I understand that Star trek has always dealt with current issues of the time, usually very cleverly, but this was like a metaphorical sledgehammer. I'm not too into politics and even I seen through it!star trek discovery

And here is CBS denying it has anything to do with Trump

Enjoyed the first two episodes; won't be able to watch the next until tomorrow evening.
I've not received the memo about every third post having to contain the word canon; but the word's canon - not cannon.
I've been looking forward to this for a while and not disappointed.
Clearly, there are a few things that they need to work out - but overall quite watchable. It usually takes a season or two before everything hangs together properly.
I'll be watching tonight's episode anyway.
