OK, I'm confused a bit...

So these replicants have a 4 year life-span, right? Did they figure out how to bypass it?

Not seen this film yet, kinda sitting on the fence about it. I seen the first one when I was a kid and barely remember it other than it being long and boring because I had no idea what was going on. Shall watch it again soo.

Had 4 reports back, 1 being it was a master piece and the others saying it was incredibaly boring of which could have easily been cut down by an hour. Reading 1 or 2 IMDB reviews it seems this film is like marmite.

Would it really make a difference if I wait to watch it on TV? If so, is IMAX 3D a must?
I would disregard other peoples opinion and attempt to watch it in a neutral frame of mind. I am not a huge fan of the original. This one is better IMO

Definitely see it in the cinema. Its made to give you the most from the experience.

Would advise against 3d, but a big screen and big sound are worth seeking out.

The film states that Nexus 8's had open ended life spans, hence why they were still tracking down old rogues.

Cool, I missed the very beginning bit and came in just as the opening text disappeared.

I've been thinking why I don't like it. It didn't seem to have any real purpose and was Abit vanilla for me but also.it was missing a character like Roy Batty.

Yes, there's no Roy in it that's for sure. But, the light that burns half as long... all the replicants in this one are Nexus 8s, with open lifespans... and therefore not such full on batst characters.

Anyway, my review:

"stting Peugeot!" (Did anyone else notice that - an advert on a building, the startup screen on the dashboard and even the current radiator grille design (at the waste recycling plant).

More seriously, I liked it, although I was rooting for K to be Deckard's kid all the way through, but that would have been too easy, of course. I felt as deflated as he did at the end...

I also thought they'd do a lot more with the Joi character, it was a shame that they didn't. It would have been nice, what with the conceit of a replicant having it's own artificial life that it's procured...

Another quite point worth noting:

Last night, we were the only two people in the whole screening. So, it may very well not be long for this world...

It's not been doing great box office. The critics loved it but it's not really a film for the masses. I'm a huge sci-fi fan and even I found it hard work so the usual Friday night Micheal Bay crowd are going to hate it.

Yes - i was amazed he flew around in a Peugeot too - you think with all the rain and snow it would have long conked out with an electrical fault.

With regards to

that was one of the nicer touches - i think the prospect of K possibly being 'the one' spurred him on to complete the quest - and he was clearly deflated when he found out it wasn't him.

Saturday night it was packed when I went. But I'm guessing that's when the majority of the intended audience could find time to go? confused

I'm no blade runner fan (don't think I've ever seen it all?) but really enjoyed it

I did though also really enjoy only God forgives. Also gosling. Highly recommended.

Finally got around to seeing this tonight. Good grief, I came extremely close to nodding off part way through - and that's not a throwaway comment for comedy effect. I had to properly shuffle in my seat in the run up to K going to see Deckard as my eyes started to get properly heavy.
It just didn't seem to do anything. I'm quite disappointed.

Found it pretty gripping and dark. Very loud too. Well worth seeing and far from nodding off, I wondered where the time went.

But possibly could have done without the virtual girlfriend bit.

The whole film is about what it means to be real/intelligent/exist, this shows another level and imo is a great addition

Finally someone else agrees with me, it’s a 90 minute film at best, stretched to 3 hours. Some interesting themes certainly but diluted by the directors insistence on trying to make the most brooding film in the world.

Absolutely. I wish they'd done more with it, such as...

In the first part of the plot, she is clearly the mechanism by which the Wallace Corporation were learning what was going on. Yet she was devoted to K - including the 'love' call out right at her end. What if her conscious learnt that her subconscious had been betraying his confidence? How would she have dealt with that? Would have been really interesting...
