Films I watched this week (Vol 2)
Discussion
I, Tonya
Loved it, massive turnout at my local Odeon Screen Unseen yet again, they're smashing it this year (Three Billboards, Shape of Water and this).
Uncomfortably funny in parts, doesn't shy away from the nastiness. Great performances but some seriously uncanny valley visuals in the skate scenes which completely took me out of the moment.

Yep, it was a good one, the screen unseen was packed for me too. I didn't mind the CG skating, 27 year old Margot Robbie as the 15 year old Tonya Harding was what I struggled with at the beginning (but I watch Derry Girls and don't have a problem with it there!?!).Loved it, massive turnout at my local Odeon Screen Unseen yet again, they're smashing it this year (Three Billboards, Shape of Water and this).

I did like the film a lot though, Shawn the bodyguard and Harding's mum steal it when they're on the screen

Lady Bird
Wasn't really sure what to expect prior to seeing it.
It was surprising brilliant and the lead actress deserves all of the plaudits being heaped upon her.
9/10.
Agree. It was terrific. Good cast all round actually. When you see these current crop of millennial actors like Soarise Ronan, Lucas Hedges and Timothée Chalamet, I cant help but think we are seeing the next wave of DeNiros and Streeps. They are that good.Wasn't really sure what to expect prior to seeing it.

Saw Boogie Nights for the first time in about 5 years last night, very very good film, attention to detail is brilliant, I’ve only seen 2 of Paul Thomas Anderson’s movies (Boogie Nights & There will be blood) and I plan to watch more of his work, anybody have any recommendations ?
I really liked inherent viceChestrockwell said:

Event Horizon , it shows you things ...
Great filmFinally got round (yes I'm 49) to watching Cars last night.
The race bits were, to be fair, beautifully done but the rest was pretty standard Pixar stuff.

The Greatest Showman
I loved it. Brilliant music, and an enjoyable (but perhaps factually simplified) plot.
Critics don't think much of it. Once again their views contrast with the audience, much like their reviews of The Last Jedi, The Orville and Star Trek Dicovery.
Critics can fk off

Gave it a rewatch recently. IMO it hasn't aged well as I loved it when it first came out.

Table 9, on Sky Movies last night, quite enjoyed it, at least a 6/10
This is confusing, there is a table 19 that I watched recently on Sky Movies but there is also a film called Table 9. Was this Anna Kendrick or were you are one of the cooler tables? It had Stephen Merchant in it.
