I heard Evans plugging Cox as replacement this morning - I’d bet he would love her to take over. She’s got her niche but the breakfast slot isn’t it and he knows it.

Mayo for breakfast, Cox and Whiley to do drivetime

Glad he's going. Self-obsessed moron.
This has been discussed on PH before - with people who have actually met him and some tradesmen etc who have done work on his property at some time or another.
Now 100% of those individuals said he was a really pleasant kind and some stated extremely generous individual.

I don’t know him from Adam but I enjoy his radio and TFI, top gear was an interesting challenge but he tried, also raises vast sums for charity and is hugely involved in that not just plugging it - and people who have met him say nice things about him.
You say moron it appears the opposite

Fair enough. All I know of him is what I've witnessed on TV and heard on the radio, and I have never, ever enjoyed his presenting style. It's that style which I should have described as "moronic" so apologies to those who do indeed know him. Clearly I'm not the only one on this thread who is glad he is leaving the breakfast show though.

I really like Virgin radio but the morning presenters (Sam & Amy) put me off slightly so i don't tend to listen on the morning commute. Chris Evans might change my mind.
I used to really like Sam and Amy when they were on GEM106. They only moved to Virgin in October last year after eleven years at GEM. In my opinion far better to listen to than Chris Evans. I wonder how they are taking being binned in favour of Evans?

Can't we just have wild bird song in the mornings. With ten minutes of recordings of Adolf Hitler speaches on the hour. That would wake everyone up.

In your opinion.

Personally I would far rather Sarah Cox did the breakfast show - but that's just my opinion.

My ideal Radio 2 schedule:

06:30 - 09:30 Sarah Cox (barking & fun and a nice person)
09:30 - 12:00 Ken Bruce (a legend - to loose Pop Master would be unthinkable)
12:00 - 14:00 Graham Norton (interesting to listen to and can interview & communicate)
14:00 - 17:00 Craig Charles (one of the best presenters on radio 2 with an interesting selection of music)
17:00 - 20:00 Simon Mayo (another legend)
20:00 - 22:00 Trevor Nelson (superb music and laid back style)

All just my opinion of course

I'd be amazed if Evans was that intelligent.

Why do people rate Coxy, did they never hear her Radio 1 Breakfast Show?

Good choice - what about the 4:30-6:30am slot - I’ve tried with afeltz but I simply dislike the wine of her voice and the air of superiority she oozes.

I’m probably totally wrong but I just don’t like her in that slot

Yes I did and it was not something I enjoyed. However, her style has changed with age and when she has sat in for Evans she has been massively different to how she was in her Radio 1 days. Matured I guess.

Craig Charles funk show is bloody good.

Trevor Nelson I like he’s got a great radio voice.

I’d also say Idris Elba he’s got those modern vibes

Just being "less unbearable" than Evans isn't exactly what I was hoping for.

Surely, Feltz has to be the worst of the lot. Absolutely unbearable.

Sounds a great line up to me. Would like to see Janice Long back - her show was really good, played some fantastic music in the early hours.

The BBC license fee seems a small price to pay to avoid them.
Listen to internet radio! & I don't think you need a TV license to listen to the radio....
But without the license fee, it would probably sound like Virgin Radio - that is the real problem

Through Sonos I have access to loads of stations through Tune-in radio. I have yet to find something remotely worth listening to. It is why Spotify, iTunes, Google Play are able to charge £10/month for something people want to listen to, Ad-free.

It is a challenging market out there, and I don’t think that Virgin is it. It boils down to Ad-free, or BBC in the UK. Do I want to know that Asda has a cheap deal on Tomatoes this week?

Simply put, - NO!!
