Das Boot - Sequel TV Series

I've just got one more of S2 to watch. It's...ermmm..... a bit far fetched, but I am enjoying it on the whole. The subs seem to look a lot more "CGI" as the series has gone on.
Yeah, I started Series 2 thinking the La Rochelle plots were a distraction from the submarine action but by the end of the series the submarine bits were getting very far fetched and I was finding the La Rochelle stuff much more enjoyable to watch. The submarine plots also just 'ended' without any real closure or dramatic final scene, I wasn't paying attention to what episode I was up to and when I got to the end of episode 8 I wondered why the next episode wasn't starting.
I have to agree with the previous post. I have just had to re-check my TV guide to see why there wasn't an episode tonight. The season ended rather unsatisfactorily - I would love to have seen Wrangel explaining to his superiors how everything went wrong. Also what is supposed to have happened to Hoffmann? Anyone would think they were planning another series.........

Only got through Ep1 so far, definitely a different vibe to it.
Possibly one for the things that really annoy you thread but Mrs complains that she is finding it confusing, who is who, what connection there is between various characters, and sods off upstairs after 2/3rds. Just as closing edits start comes back in and demands detailed updates. After provided updates and analysis, then got deaf and dumb breakfast treatment after suggesting if she wants to know what happens it's maybe better to watch it.
One connection is that various characters on German and British side have all lost a son, but dealing with it in different ways. Loved the aftermath of the swimming tank escape test.

Watched the first two last night and yeah it took the first episode to get into it again as it was different, but feel at home with it after the second one. Good stuff!
Have to find time for all the episodes together with The Terror: Infamy which I have on my planner.

Well I watched three the other week and after each episode I did wonder why I'd watched it. May well get rid of the rest and just stick to Das Boot.
I'm glad you commented because I watched the original TV series avidly back in the '80s but this hasn't appealed to me, sounds like you agree.MesoForm said:

Just started watching series 3 of Das Boot. Interesting to get the British side of it, and will be interesting to see how the U Boat hating RN Captain plays out
Is he a Jack Hawkins type or a Noel Coward type?No snorkers though.
