Meant to also add, bit odd that they kicked those brothers off after the second(?) leg for being the last to complete that leg but then nothing since?

The first race played out that way too - one elimination and then the remainder to the end. The second race had two teams drop out due to lack of funds so no need for eliminations.

So after 40 days, three teams end up on the same bus. This seems fixed to me.

You can exclude about 35 of those days as they've been largely in the middle of nowhere with single connections between places.

Budget is far more critical than time as due to the routes it's realistically been very difficult to lose more than a day to this point, and at least for the legs up till now, very easy to claw that time back as they converge on twice weekly trains or whatever.

The checkpoints have been designed to be ultra-tight, but the variance on remaining budget is pretty substantial now.

This would he better named 'Strangers get on buses'. I've had more hazardous journeys into the town centre.

Not really, there were leads build up in the first couple of stages and teams have taken time out to do jobs.

This has been stage managed to keep the race tight until the end. Anyone seriously trying/being allowed to race would be doing things much differently.

Agreed, snore-fest series.

AND THE WINNER IS……..

The Canadian Tourist Board.

Most of it does seem to be somewhat contrived.

This current series has been by far the worst. Such a shame.

Yup, the dad and daughter teams are ok but the other two teams are annoying.

Why is there always a hen-pecked husband?

You've got to be kidding, blondie daughter is highly annoying and taxi dad is only slightly more tolerable. I was hoping they'd run out of money before now and be gone. Laid and Monique for the win please.

Does anyone else think that the BBC have set rules for what they can and can't do overnight?

Kevin and Claudia having to spend $500 on a hotel room when they're critical on funds must mean they're forced to be either travelling or in accommodation by a certain time.

I'd be sleeping on a park bench if I was in their shoes and I'm assuming there was no overnight travel options.

I'd agree that it's going a bit' huntedesque'. I don't get why they went off route to go to Niagara Falls. Yeah, it's an amazing place but it's a race at the end of the day. They can go back and see it again as a holiday. I do think the production team are making it mandatory to do off piste things to make content.

They've all been carrying camping gear the entire time. How many times has anyone used it?

Exactly. I think a handful of times between them all at most.

Hotel at $100-$150 a night vs $15 on a camp pitch when budget is the biggest factor throughout the entire journey it's a no brainer, but I wonder why they're not....

I guess in Montreal or indeed any of the built-up areas they've naturally gravitated towards, actually tracking down a campsite and reaching the outskirts of the city to stay there the night would be a non starter.

Thinking about it, even out in the sticks here where I live I'd really struggle to reach a campsite without a car. Lift shares unlikely to be passing them either.

I'm assuming actually sleeping rough is against the rules? Closest we've come is spending the night in a train station.

Probably against the law.

Well that was a bit dull.

Ladi and Wotsit for the win. I'm struggling to warm to the others.

Now that the moaning Dad and Daughter are out I really don't mind who wins ... just treating it as a mildly interesting travel show at the moment and ignorig the setup reality elements.

It's got me looking at direct flights from Manchester to Toronto so I guess it's had the desired effect for the Canadian Tourist Board!

We binged series 1 this week as had never seen it before, so so good. It's night and day with this series. I appreciate something like that simply wouldn't have been possible immediately post-COVID (and global route options are more limited now) but it's like a completely different show.

If the Asian couple win, it's down to that decision a couple of legs ago when they took a midnight coach whilst the others were all tucked up in bed. Slept on the coach and finished the leg about half a day ahead. Probably the best decision of the whole competition.

I do wish the editing would show us relative geographical positions - they show us a map of where one team has reached, but don't show the relative positions at that point in time of the other teams. It would help me a lot.

When the dad and daughter dropped out at least she didn't whine - she would have done at the start of the series.
