People are giving a lot of credit to their having chemistry from the beginning.

I’d wager this was one of the later things filmed once relationships had been established and, having learned from Evan’s drops, they decided to broadcast this first.

It’s TV innit
or maybe they just picked people that knew each other beforehand... which would be a decent decision really

I actually quite liked it-still a bit contrived-but it’s always going to be.
I’ve always quite liked paddy.
I think a great idea would be to enter one or both of the new boys into some genuine form of motorsport, like hill climbing perhaps, and take it seriously.they could have a segment every week.
And I don’t believe for one minute they didn’t mean to crash the mini.....

Skelmersdale was built as on overflow from Kirkby. You don't get much more "scouse" than Kirkby.

You'll be telling me that people from Kirkby identify as Lancastrians next - because Brian Blessed patrolled Kirkby (known as Newtown in the series) in his Z-car with Lancashire Constabulary written on the side smile
I lived in Skelmersdale for 6 months when it was first built. It was practically empty and I loved it.

Who's Luke Forward ?

I fell asleep during the repeat ,just as I did on Sunday.

I enjoyed what little I've seen anyway.

DO tell which part of Liverpool you were born in and when seeing as you are able to talk for over 400,000 people.

It was better than CE era.

But

PM needs to stop shouting
FF needs to develop a more distinct persona
CH doesn't need to become the butt of the other two's jokes all the time

Well I enjoyed that. Unlike many on here, I actually had hopes that the new lineup would turn out better than the post CHM lineups. It's only one ep I know but they have already got more chemistry than the Godawful forced "banter" that we were subjected to from MLeB, Reid and Harris. Even Harris has relaxed into the vibe now that he doesn't have to cope with MLeB's appalling comedy timing/acting.

It was entertaining, that's what I want from Top Gear. Others obv want something different.

I was born in Kirkby.

Well, Fazakerley actually - the hospital just down the road.

For the avoidance of doubt I do not consider myself to be a Lancastrian and I do not know any scousers who do.

Oh, and the population of Liverpool is 900,000 but you should be careful with that one as not all are indigenous to the city.

HTH.

Genuinely good telly, much more funny than the old presenters and not just a copy of what went before. Really didn't think this would be any good, but I'm please I was proved wrong!

I almost didn't bother with it. Paddy McGuiness and Freddy Flintoff? Really?

Turns out three people genuinely having a laugh actually makes for quite good TV though.

I didnt mind it really, Paddy has lost weight and Harris has lost a foot in height !

Was ok, warmed to the new chaps despite Paddy setting my teeth on edge.

Imagined it would be a bit cack, but I gave it a chance and enjoyed it. Genuinely funny (in places) and certainly less contrived, or at least, in appearance. As other posters have commented, time will tell and the rapport needs to be built based on shared experiences.

I’m from Bolton (originally) and areas of Bolton are still classed as being in Lancashire as far as I know, (certainly were when I was growing up there and I see myself as a Lancashire lad, rather than Greater Mancunian).

Paddy needs to turn it down a bit!

Well, a quick google of Mr McGuiness says he's actually from Farnworth - so that puts him even closer still to Manchester.

I reckon he spent his youth smashed out of his tree at The Hacienda and has a huge stash of Happy Mondays, Stone Roses and Oasis CDs.

Lancashire my arse biggrin
