#1832 Charlie Walker
This is a fascinating chat, amazing stories from this chap.
I could listen to him all day, his voice is a lot like Tom Hiddleston.
Just to go back to this post, I've just finished Charlie's book "Through sand and snow".This is a fascinating chat, amazing stories from this chap.

Just brilliant, was actually gutted I got to the end.

#1863 Zuckerberg is a bit disappointing. I'm spending more time listening to "2 bears, 1 cave" and the Whitehalls nowadays. Feel like I've done JRE to death and noticing ALOT of repetition
It wasn't the best, but I enjoyed some of it.Couple of really good ones recently though, Dave Mustaine and also the one with Derrick Hamilton.
I haven't listened to the Mike Baker yet, but seems like he was on not long ago.

Definitely a lot of repetition and it almost feels like the guests are drying up, just the same comedians and conspiracy theorists speaking about the same thing.Lost count how many times he's told the story about the comedian on the verge of retiring but then coming off stage saying "Joe, whatever we gotta do to make this happen we're doin it........" or LA's on its arse, hunting elk with a bow, freezers full blah blah blah.
Real shame as I used to enjoy listening to him talking about cars, training etc.
Anyone recommend any podcasts like the older Joe Rogans?

Mike Baker was ok but sure he’s been on before but if not it was very similar to someone that has. Meagdeth man was bloody brilliant and I’ve actually listened to some of their music since so I guess the JRE thing is quite good for some guests
Hold on, you'd never heard of Megadeth???2ky said:

Yep I agree, I now find myself listening to the first 20-30 mins and turning off after realising old ground is being covered again. Of course, there are a few gems from time to time but these are becoming few and far between. I'd also be interested in any other recommendations anybody has.Lost count how many times he's told the story about the comedian on the verge of retiring but then coming off stage saying "Joe, whatever we gotta do to make this happen we're doin it........" or LA's on its arse, hunting elk with a bow, freezers full blah blah blah.

I don't think he did himself any favours during the pandemic, he was trying to be controversial but his opinions have scared the interesting/celebrity guests away.
Also noticed on a few occasions he sucks up to guests during the episode but in later episodes with a different guest he slags them off (Dan Aykroyd was a good example of this).
Oh well, he's made his fortune from a very good podcast but it'll no longer be my walking the dog podcast!

Lex Friedman is pretty decent along with triggernometry.
Like others have mentioned some of Joe Rogan stuff is just American comedians who I don’t find particular funny at all, real random tin foil crazies and Duncan Trussel who’s batst crazy.

I've enjoyed a few of these too, as well as Theories of Everything with Curt Jaimungel. What I like about both of them is that they can ask a very short question and then just let the guest speak uninterrupted for a while, unlike some others who like the sound of their own voice a bit too much.Chris Williamson - The Modern Wisdom podcast, Is a great JRE kind of podcast.
He's from the northeast and has only been going for 2-3 years. He has had Jordan Peterson on twice now and has just moved out to Austin.
He's recently even been on the JRE show.
Recommend anyone who like JRE for his, modern thinking, Training and elite mindset style of podcasts to check him out

Chris has done really well, and deserves it. Mixes 'physical' and 'mental' guests all with good humour. Bright guy. He's from the northeast and has only been going for 2-3 years. He has had Jordan Peterson on twice now and has just moved out to Austin.

Started listening to 1836 - Ryan Holiday last night.
The stuff about Marcus Aurelius is really interesting. I've listened to 'The Stoic Path' lessons on Sam Harris's Waking Up app by William B. Irvine and this philosophy really interests me.
However 1:48 in and it's a bit of a Joe ranting episode, which is frustrating. Let the man talk. I'm not particularly interested in hearing Joe's same old monologues. I'll probably finishing tonight while I wax the car, hopefully it gets better
The Protect our Parks episode is hilarious! I nearly choked on my diet coke I was laughing so much. Mark Normand is ridiculously funny. I stopped at about 2hrs in though, they were pretty lit by this point, so difficult to listen to.
Was really looking forward to the Ryan Holiday one and I haven't listened to a Rogan podcast in a while. First 30 minutes like you say the Marcus Aurelius / Gladiator stuff was really interesting then for the next 2 hours Rogan completely took over ranting about social media, barley letting Holiday speak. Was next to nothing on the topic of Stoicism which is the whole purpose of Holiday being there. Was infuriating tbh....Rogan is just an ego maniac now. Steers the topics towards what he wants to talk about rather then what the guests are there to talk about. I'm done with Joe Rogan now.The stuff about Marcus Aurelius is really interesting.
