Highlander 2?
There can only be one....................highlander movie. Eight for Silver
Had a different title I believe for general release.
Gothic werewolf horror set late 1800’s. Sticks a bit closer to the actual myth and far more gorey in parts than the 15 cert leads you to believe.
I love gothic telly of any kind and this is worth a watch - not the most fast paced thing in the world but nicely shot and decent effects.
6.5 gypsy curses out of 10 silly lords of the manor.

The Art of Racing in the Rain.
Don't watch the trailer. Tells too much of the story.
There's going to be a remake next year, where the Retriever is replaced by a Bulldog and his down on his luck owner, from Stevenage, fulfills his life long dream to be Ferrari driver On Channel4 catchup

Seriously though it's an enjoyable film.

Re-watched Shutter Island. A very good movie if not a feelgood one.
On a second watch it becomes a very different movie. Regarding the ending I agree with the argument that it is not how it appears on first watching.

On a surface level, and perhaps more when you watch it for the first time, you think he has regressed. In reality though he was "cured" and understands who he is, but cannot go on living with what happened. His defence mechanism before was the elaborate fantasy he had constructed, but that had been taken away from him. So he goes willingly to be lobotomised instead. Late Night With The Devil
Great little horror film; watched it with my 18 year old son and we both enjoyed it.
The 70s talk show feel is good and there are mercifully few jump scares. The ‘found footage’ idea isn’t original but works well. Overall it’s a fun little horror story, neatly done.

I'll be honest, this was my view on the ending the first time I saw it (or rather what I thought the ending meant, I did go away and read up). It's his final line where he says "what's worse, live a monster or die a good man" that seals it because he is choosing to be lobotomized and therefore is no longer using his defence mechanism to avoid facing reality. It's a great ending to a brilliant filmThere are a number of Youtube videos that go into this

Red State
I posted that this had popped up on Netflix over on that thread, it's one of Kevin Smith's films that hasn't really been available anywhere for a long time (had to get my own Blu Ray copy from Germany!) but as they work out the licensing they seem to be popping up here and there. Re-watched it yesterday.
Red State isn't like his other films, it's a thriller about a church group similar to the Westborough Baptist Church. Best to go in with as little detail as possible, it has some brilliant performances from John Goodman and Michael Parks, Melissa Leo and loads more famous faces.

Just to have fun with the sequels debate and name a few that haven't come up......
Star Trek 2
Spiderman 2
X Men 2
The Two Towers
Captain America: Winter Soldier
All (IMO) better than the original.
Ocean's TwelveStar Trek 2
Spiderman 2
X Men 2
The Two Towers
Captain America: Winter Soldier
All (IMO) better than the original.
It's such an enjoyable romp of a film: sharp dialogue with timing to match any episode of Frasier, a great cast with fantastic cameos and a completely ludicrous storyline.

Die Hard 2.5 (Last Boy Scout) was better than Die Hard 2 - as was Die Hard with a Vengeance for that matter.

Joe Hallenbeck: Where are you goin'?
Jimmy Dix: To the bathroom, okay. You wanna come? The doc said I shouldn't lift anything heavy.
Sure sure, it was an accident. Could have happened to anybody. You were walking along, tripped, slipped on the floor and accidentally stuck your dick in my wife. Jimmy Dix: To the bathroom, okay. You wanna come? The doc said I shouldn't lift anything heavy.
Sorry Mrs H it just isn't my week!
Bloody love that film - probably helped that it came out when I was 12, so swearing, wise cracks and a very nice 7 Series were all very appealing at that age.
Oh and Halle Berry.
