It's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.
I can't take credit for this but the best thing of all is driving a fast car fast.
Yeah I don't ascribe to the original statement at all.

I've had some turds and it didn't matter how fast I drove them whereas a 675LT round Silverstone was a lot of fun.

What on earth is this really stupid trend of all the vloggers and the stupid fking poses on ever y single thumbnail of their new videos, hand on forehead pulling a stupid fking face..... It's really off putting and makes me want to avoid watching, sounds really silly but what on earth is going on?

See Jayemm’s comments on this up thread. It seems that it works to encourage click-through and, potentially, impacts on how YouTube’s algorithm prioritises videos.

Yeah I don't think I can show it any more clearly - the thumbnail has a tangible impact on the views, and these are what people sometimes like to click on.

I keep looking for your KTM / bike updates. Anything in the editing suite?

Nope, hasn't turned a wheel since November. I'm waiting for the longer nights because that's the only time I really have spare. Hope to get it out soon but I'm not sure if it will stay - I don't find myself wanting to get in the garage and stare at it - so maybe it'll get changed for the no doubt inferior but much prettier Ducati I always wanted.

I probably should've added ''on the road'', where speed limits apply.

For my channel I get a bit confused at times as we know that YouTube prioritises watch-time.

So I had a theory that just because you have a high CTR doesn't mean high watch time, for example if James had a shocked expression but people either felt the video didn't warrant a shocked expression or they skipped to the bit where there is something shocking happening then the watch-time would be lower.

So I went through a year of uploading videos where I tried to "attract the right click", so the people who didn't click my video could sod off in hope that those that did felt it was worth watching all the way through.

It did indeed improve the watch-time but YouTube didn't push it out to people's homepages at all in comparison.

Really frustrating as I felt this was a flaw in the algorithm and explains why so many shocked faces.

This happens. I've a few friends who have had hit videos (millions of views) and I've talked to them about it, often to find out that it's not their best earning video because yes people clicked - but they also clicked off after 30 seconds

Not long until the clocks go forward and hopefully it will be dry and warmer by then too.

I understand about the aesthetic appeal thing. It turns heads like mad just pootling through towns though.

This one does not deserve the scrappy or a breakers yard. So yes, I am.
There's one on eBay that looks pretty good (if you, inexplicably, like that sort of thing). Although it's got 103k miles.

Our job as content creators is to get people to click, if they don’t do that then there’s zero point making the video. You can spend hours creating an amazing video but it won’t get viewed if the thumbnail doesn’t convince a viewer to engage.

Emotions drive engagement, always have, always will. Shock beats joy, as viewers like drama/adversity.

The irony is that I watch almost all videos from the channels to which I subscribe, even though the thumbnails increasingly cause me to assume the video is going to be st.

If I didn't subscribe, they wouldn't tempt me to click, as they're all the bloody same. Somebody gurning and some hyperbolic scaremongering in a childish font.

Have you considered a Ducati Supersport 950S? Much more comfortable than the Panigale and the 2022 onwards model looks really good, only downside is it's a bit heavy compared to something like an Aprilia RS 660. Best of luck with the search

Was that a Monster 1200s?

Thumbnails generally aren’t for subscribers, they are for people who aren’t (which sounds weird, but it’s true). If you’re subscribed, it’s likely that you’ll watch the video. The TN is to convince other people to watch.

I'm so glad I'm not one of those people.

I actually pay way more attention to the title than the thumbnail.

I didn't click on the last TDC video (presumably about Birmingham) because of the stupid poses they were doing for the thumbnail

If a few more people joined me maybe we could get rid of the stty trend once and for all.

I know, but the thumbnails still make me think that perhaps the channel I'm subscribed to is actually for children.

Well, the results are in - and it looks like Option B is the winner!

I also would have voted C myself, and YouTube aren't especially clear about metrics beyond view time - but this was the clear winner.

I'm really surprised they don't just give CTR. I guess view time % considers the type of viewer you're attracting too which is clever.

I emailed them again asking for it and they said no ??
This https://databox.com/improve-youtube-ctr and many other articles suggest CTR is/was available. Is it not any more?
CTR for the thumb AB testing Jay is highlighting. CTR is available for videos.

VE02 AZL was my first car. MG ZR 105+ with Michein Pilot Sports (I had the big wheels with 225/45 R17 tires) which I then swapped to Pilot Exaltos 2. And that's where my love of tyres started and why i'm doing what I do today.

His success is very impressive. But I never know why you would want to show your home on your channel. Mat Armstrong has been showing the world his new garage extension and house. There are too many bad people and weirdos around to risk it. I’m sure the Rightmove link was posted on these very pages when he bought it. Which is case in point.
