Anyone notice the Stradman jumping on the bandwagon and buying a crashed Ferrari to fix up?

The Mr Beast effect. And yes it does work. Chris Slix is more on this end of things as well. He has another project as well now. He's a wee bit more technical than Matt in the videos if that's your bag. Both good IMHO. TDC the first one was good but other than a mashed loom it's but actually that big of a project compared to the accident damaged stuff.
I'm at the end of rebuilding a fairly cheap 996, have to say i'd of preferred the TDC one with all the suspension sorted and just needing wiring and some interior. It certainly doesn't seem to have enough damage to make more than one or two episodes and it's frustrating how they are dragging it out to be a lot more than it is!

Throw in needing some mechanical repairs even just new suspension bushes, coilovers etc and it would create some more interesting content or perhaps a rebuild of the M96 engine and it would suddenly become a longer series, there must be loads of 996's out there needing engine rebuilds if the online failure rate is to be believed!

I think I like Matt A and Tavarish videos a lot more because they cover more than just one basic repair per video and it doesn't feel stretched out to gain clicks.

I quite enjoy it, though they, like a lot of others, need to learn from mat Armstrong and put more content in a video. He does LOADS usually during the course of a video, but these other channels just try and milk it for as many videos as possible.

I think he bought this because he wants to widebody it, I think yes he has taken inspiration from the current trend but doubt he will be looking to make money on it, more not loose money by drilling holes in one ( like the white one he sold )

Just watched Slix’s latest video.

What a st show this co-part buying is. The car looked quite good from the photos but IRL it looks terrible. Every panel (including glass roof) has damage.

Don’t know what he paid for it (don’t think he said) but they reckoned the market value was £61k (really??).

It’s a proper bad purchase if you ask me. He’s gonna lose (again) on this one I reckon, but like he says it’s interesting content.

Part of me thinks he really regrets this one!

For the purposes of youtube.. hats off to him. Also, as far as I know.. none of the main rebuilt channels has done a GT before. I'm sure this will help propel his channel for sure.

Also agree on the Copart thing.. I feel like not being able to see the cars properly (Bad photos aside) is part of the business model.

It also looks like the windscreen surround is bent inwards as well. Maybe it's an optical illusion based on the caved in windscreen, but it looks like the A pillars are bent as well. Proper mess that car.

But.. he got it running, which seemed like a big win. Looking forward to the next episode for sure. I like him a lot.

I’m getting pretty sick of Marques MKBHD / Auto Focus pretending to be a credible, knowledgeable car reviewer. His lack of product knowledge is staggering. And when he starts branding a car as “the worst I’ve ever reviewed” when he’s no real background in the subject, it is just plain reckless.

I can see what the problem is here. You are seeing YouTube as a source of knowledgeable and reliable information whereas in fact it is a cesspit of lunatics, sensationalists and self publicists subject to absolutely no fact checking.

Why isn't he credible? He's reviewing cars that are mostly tech focused as that's his thing. His reviews are actually real world use of the car, what knowledge do you want him to have? Again, don't like it don't watch it.

I assumed that too. He will make money on it though, by views and sponsorship, just like everyone else.

I’d never watched any of his content before but was intrigued about his review of the Fisker Ocean, it’s title and it’s impact on a spiralling business.

Have to say what he portrayed didn’t really seem to me to match the (admittedly subjective) title.

I thought he was pretty decent reviewer and wouldn’t avoid his content in the future.

CoPart is indeed a st show for buying mostly due to the fact they allow 'traders' to buy crash damaged cars, tidy the damaged car up to look slightly less damaged and then fire it back through the auction again.

I was caught out with a motorhome in this way and I think MA was caught out with a w204 C63 coupe like this before too.

Supposedly the last letter on the windscreen barcode denotes whether they are from an insurance company or a private seller but the pics are such bad quality you can rarely make that out.

Agreed, I think he's a great reviewer, usually does very in depth tech reviews that are real world as he lives with the tech as he uses it for weeks first. I think his autofocus channel is a great addition as it's a nice cross over from his tech channel to a car channel. The channel is defo no for petrol heads lol, it's more for people who are into tech as well as he doesn't review them as cars, but as pieces of tech.

Ah that puts things into more context, I thought he was a ‘car reviewer’, didn’t realise cars were an extension to his main channel.

Ahhh, no, his main channel is a tech channel with 19m subs - https://www.youtube.com/@mkbhd

His Autofocus channel is a spin off as I think he does like his cars (recently traded in a Tesla Plaid for a 911 Turbo) However, cars are treated as tech not as cars, I don't think he ever tries to pass off he know how to review cars as cars.

Copart are shocking there's no way at all they should be doing pure online but then you'd be crazy to buy a salvage car without going through it very carefully. Where do they find these people?? They only get away with it as long as there are enough stupid people bidding!

If you have a spare 10 minutes the "victims of copart" FB group is absolutely hilarious. All the guys with big ideas about taking copart to court for the damaged Audi they just got tucked up with. It's very funny watching these people brought up on a spoon fed diet of consumer rights they can't compute dealing with the harsh reality of being properly stung.

The only ones I have sympathy for are the alarming number of stolen cars that get listed and bought on there which is wrong.
