I'm enjoying it DESPITE Alison Hammond, but just finding it so hard to watch with the advert breaks every 10 minutes.
Even watching on catch up and forwarding through them is a grind!
For me, AH is better than I'd expected. Makes a good contrast to Noel Fielding.Even watching on catch up and forwarding through them is a grind!

Every series they all seem to be right butterfingers, dropping bakes, things sliding off trays, unable to get things out of the oven without something ending up on the floor. You'd think that with just one chance they would take greater care.
Most likely rushing and a bit flustered, I can imagine it all gets a bit too much occasionally especially if you are running behind. HTP99 said:

It is a bit annoying, but she's clearly good at baking and she's photogenic so I think she could have a future career like Nadia Hussein who was very shy to start with but has turned out to be a natural presenter.
What annoys me is the fake jeopardy. When "you have one minute" is announced many of them haven't started decoration and yet they present fully finished bakes, so obviously someone is lying to the viewers.

Not half as annoying as "we'll see you all tomorrow" followed by "good morning bakers" yet everyone is wearing exactly the same clothes as the day before What annoys me is the fake jeopardy. Why do they bother with the pretence it's a different day ? No one cares.

I thought she was good but totally over reacted tonight
I did think Dan and Tash were in trouble at one point, but the right contestant left IMO.
What I have noticed in this series (maybe the producers read this 'ere thread) is a return to more traditional baking challenges. I remember a technical from the last series which was a "tortilla" challenge, whereby the only bake was making a tortilla but was largely judged on the quality of the filling. Another technical from a couple of years ago was to make Dampfnudels; basically poached buns from a particular region of Germany. Not one contestant had ever heard nor seen one.
Anyway, currently I reckon Josh, Tash, and Christy for the final.

Filming is done over two days (the weekend for most of the series). They are told to wear the exact same clothes so there is continuity, they typically film over 12 hours a day and things can overrun. Things like interviews or reshoots of presenter 'skits' may be done out of sequence. Why do they bother with the pretence it's a different day ? No one cares.
Source: a friend worked on the show. If contestants don't have two identical outfits it's a serious source of stress to get one washed and dried for day two.
Saku said something about needing to ask her manager for more time off work in the last episode which gave something away on timing.
That was after scraping through again. I think she's really funny but will probably be out next.
The "You can all go home now" comments always get me. Do they really "Go home"?
On the fake jeopardy, people clearly do more after the "One minute left" warning than is possible.
Anyway. Still liking the Alison/Noel combo. I think it shows that for a lot of TV presenters they play a role and if we dont like them it might well be because we just dont like the sort of TV they have been on.

On the fake jeopardy, I suppose they have to edit it so the atmosphere builds until the end. There isn't a single episode without someone replying to the one minute call with "I better take it out now"...
Christie even commented to another contestant that she had finished hers with only a couple of minutes spare.
I agree Saku is on borrowed time now, Matty needs to be careful though too I think.

Mrs got really bows up about the cry baby last night. Even deployed the phrase "stupid bint" at one point. Also disapproves of the Hollywood scoring method involving the attractiveness of the female contestants.
No other comment from me other than to confirm Alison Hammond good casting choice.

Careful. I got a post deleted recently for saying that phrase recently. Agreed about AH though. She has turned out to be a good choice. No other comment from me other than to confirm Alison Hammond good casting choice.
