Gerard Butler really is pants
Has Gerard Butler ever been in a good film?
'Mrs. Brown' was alright.

His performances went down hill from there. Bit of a bugger to peak in your first film hehe

'300' was ok for what it was.

The Secret of Marrowbone – 7/10

I knew absolutely nothing about this, which is always a nice way to go in. It was a slow burner but I came away quite satisfied, particularly as it landed the ending (unlike Hereditary, which is a much better film but falls flat at the end) and never gets silly or overly unbelievable. It’s really nicely shot, the 60s setting works well, the house itself is really interesting and all the kids are great.

I know some people hated it, but I think they were expecting a horror film, which this isn’t in the slasher/supernatural sense, and it certainly takes its time setting the scene, which I always like but appreciate is not for everyone. I like that it plays with the haunted house convention but twists that, even if it’s quite possible that you’ll see where it’s going before it gets there.

Fair enough - haven't seen DoT yet - is it really any good? 41% on rotten toms

Smoke and Mirrors (or El hombre de las mil caras) - its on Netflix

You can't take your eyes of the subtitles or you miss a chunk and have to play catch up.

Not going to say it was an easy watch, it was testing in parts but very decent. Thought provoking. I'll give it a 2nd pass in a month or so to see what I missed or didn't fully cotton to the during 1st viewing.

Director has 2 other linked movies to this one so worthwhile digging into the back cat.

World's End was very poor compared to the others.
The problem is that it isn't funny. Or memorable.
I was being generous--it's 'kin awful.

Hotel Artemis. A (semi) futuristic film about a secret hospital just for crims, eclectic casting (Jodie Foster, Jeff Goldblum and Dave Bautista) and one or two little plot deviations I enjoyed it but Mrs I really didn't

The main thing I remember was the king of Sparta sporadically lapsing into a Scottish accent.
