Mayo did breakfast on R1 in the early 90's. Dunno about you lot but I wouldn't want to go back to getting up that early!

Awful what they have done to him on the Drivetime show, getting rid of Wright or dumping Jo Glasto on him would have been a better idea.

Probably Cox is the best of a female presenter bunch, though they could go left field and get Tarbuck to do it as they will have to go female on it.

There is only one breakfast Show and that is Shaun Keveney on 6 Music. The guy is so funny and says things you’d say without not wanting to offend anyone. The fact that the music is fantastic is just a bonus! He’d never get the Radio 2 gig but I wouldn’t want him to.

Give it to Sara Cox, it’s the only time I listen to the Radio 2 Show.

As for Craig Charles being a good presenter.....fk right off....he’s a complete tt and makes me feel physically sick when I here his scouse whine.

I’m not rascist, I just find Craig Charles’ accent particularly unpleasant on the ear. Much like Jamie Charrager’s and, yes i’ll be honest with you, quite a few other Liverpudlians. Obviously their accent doesn’t define them as people, I’ve met some quite nice scousers!

Er, no. Didn't he leave before the end of the first series because it was a ratings disaster. According to Wikipedia, Matt Le Blanc wanted to quit the show because Evans was such a wker.

I don't remember that - I thought he carried on until the end of the first series, then announced that he wasn't coming back after that.

He did indeed make it to the end of his first series, but the series itself was cut short because of 'production problems'.

Would prefer Zoe Ball over Sarah Cox. Also not convinced by Craig Charles in the earlier hypothetical list - I just don't find him easy listening and tend to switch off (although he is still about 1 million percent better than Steve Wright).

Actually, they'd do an excellent job of replacing Chris Evans on the breakfast programme. Certainly far better than many of the suggestions on here to date. Perhaps BBC should make them an offer they can't refuse.

I don't mind Sarah Cox but I don't think I would be able to listen to her 5 days a week in the Breakfast Slot. However she is miles preferable to Zoe Ball. I can barely listen to her for more than a few hours. Simon Mayo would be my choice but as mentioned previously I heard Chris this morning giving a big plug to Sarah Cox so wouldn't be surprised if it was to her taking over the show.
