Can I just give a mention for Freddie Dobbs, https://m.youtube.com/c/FreddieDobbs who does a great job of travel and motorbike content. Well produced and a likeable guy.
Wanted to second this, as a motorcycle/lifestyle channel his videos are great, and done to a high standard, a great ambassador for the hobby...

Third from me. He is hilariously hopeless with maintenance. I almost went to the DGR in Tamworth for the Bonneville reveal. Definitely a nice chap and someone I would love to go on a ride with.

More people need to watch to Home Built By Jeff, an Australian self-taught car restorer and modifier.

He's got a huge amount of content, and is criminally undersubscribed.

Here's an example of a rich person who has nothing to do so decided to become a YouTuber, but doesn't understand what makes a video interesting to watch.

So they think that paying Shmee to be in a video is the answer to getting views:

Some horrendous over spray on the AA E30.
No surprises with it being a quick / rushed blow over, they did not even remove the roof aerial.

Cannot see the work lasting any length of time.
Can't believe they spent £10k on those two E30s. It doesn't look like a resto to me, just tarting up with as many freebies as they could get their hands on.

Karma would be Ethan arriving and "accidentally" driving in to it with a Range Rover, stoving in the door or boot or something. BANTAAAAAH innit.
I take it you didn't watch any of the videos by Yorkshire Car Restoration detailing the repairs then?
Old people don't like young people having a laugh, that's the feeling I get from this thread.

Like I said before, they bump into cars that the channel has paid for, not each others actual cars. When they do accidentally bump one (like Rory's Jaguar and the Range Rover) they talk about it and the person responsible gets is fixed. Not so much BANTAAAAAAH innit, more car guys being car guys.

Please if you don't like the humour or the style of the videos, stop watching them. It's so weird that you lot watch these videos only to come on here and complain about them, repeatedly!
I'm the same age as Alex. It's cringeworthy, no matter how old you are.

I find him hit and miss. Sometimes he’s repairing things quickly and telling a great story.. the next he’s a dry as Ratarossa.

Just had one of this chaps videos recommended...

https://www.youtube.com/@OlliePenny/

Shipped a knackered E46 320d to America, which already looks to be well travelled, and is driving it across America and up to Alaska.

As above I find him hit & miss, also some of his fixes are on the cheap & not the best.

Interesting to look at Mat Armstrong’s figures for his latest Rolls Royce video - just shy of 500,000 views in three hours. Compare that to Shmee, who has struggled to hit 250,000 views for one video for a month and it’s been 5 months since he did 1/2 million views on one.

I know he has other interests but I wonder how long he can sustain that fleet of cars on anything between 50k-150k per video - is the revenue still there for him? He’s mentioned before that he studies the algorithms religiously, so I wonder if there comes a point when the (apparent) slide becomes unsustainable and irreversible?

Edit - Mat’s video gone from 493,000 to 518,000 in the time it took me to write the above post yikes

Careful. If you suggest Shmee is anything other than Godly, there are a couple of PHers here who get incredibly cross.

I have absolutely nothing against him whatsoever and given he’s been at the forefront of the ‘industry’ for a number of years, it clearly demonstrates that he is very good at what he does but at the moment, the figures don’t (seem to) lie.

I know, I said the same thing a few weeks ago (although I dislike his kid's tv persona), but I still got slagged off.

It's often crossed my mind that a large proportion of Shmee's views and subscribers are fake.

Firstly I'm a cynic and can't understand at all why someone would want to watch his videos over the hundreds of other options.

Secondly, on a lot of his videos he doesn't get even half as many comments on his videos compared to other automotive youtubers who get the same views.

I've said it before but those Mansory parts are complete ste.

No better than half the stuff people like to glue on from the Ripspeed section of Halfords.

How did they get in a position where they could charge (and some people would pay) £10k for a bumper covered in butchered holes and Sikaflex?
