Had a look at a couple of new(ish) semi-behind the scenes trailers today.
On top of everything else, am I the only one getting rather bored with the “This November, everything changes”, or “More dangerous, more edgey, more unpredictable than ever” and “Bond comes out of retirement” or “Bond.....on his own this time”, “Bond like never before” blah blah blah.....
Every. Bloody. Time.
I like the franchise but can we have some new straplines please?

More than anything I'm worried about wondering what the hell is going on, funnily enough my brother-in-law said exactly the same to me the other day. I watched the trailer and had no clue how the various returning characters relate to Bond.

It's a hell of long period between the films that characters are returning from etc, and I'm not even sure if I have the desire to sit through the 4 films that precede this again.

I have to say, lines like “He could kill millions” and “If we don’t do this, there’ll be nothing left to save” don’t exactly bode well for the storyline given the current state of the planet.

It maybe going down the route of superheroes where you cannot simply have Batman OR Superman OR Spiderman but you have to have them all together. Complete tosh

It’s hard to have Bond villain hyperbole worthy of being scared of these days. hehe

The villain is going to disrupt the media/cause a pandemic/make an explosion/cause a global financial crash. . Meh we’ve had/having all those this year.

Or we'll have "Felix Leiter: A James Bond Story" or a Jinx spin-off (actually that was always the intent), or whatever.

That’s kinda my point.
Pretty much ANY globally catastrophic scenario could be seen as being in poor taste at the moment....(more by the lefty snowflakes but that’s another discussion entirely).
Whether this is seen as a bit inconvenient or genuinely damaging remains to be seen obviously.

Plus all those have already been done. Often several times over.

Maybe a offshoot about scaramanga would work.

What we need to see is M’s early days.
Could be a bit retro and satisfy the need for an historic Bond without making Bond historic.

M was in the navy and served in WW2. He reached the rank of Admiral. His real name is Miles Messervy. His predecessor at the secret service was assassinated while sitting in his office. Bond tried to do the same in YOLT with a cyanide gun but failed. Sheet glass on hydraulics had been installed in front of M's desk which saved him. He was kidnapped by Chinese agents in 'Doctor Sun' . M lives in Windsor.

Did think November might be a tad optimistic when they moved it the first time. I'd desperately love to go, but I'm not sure I'd be comfortable going to the cinema, to be honest. My mate that I go with feels the same. I'm not sure I'd want to watch it at home either really though. I guess moving it again (if they do) is probably the best thing. Really feel for the cinemas though.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, and I reckon they need to go radical. So what about splitting James Bond into 2 characters?
James and Bond.
Idris Elba would be Jack James, Tim Hiddleston would be Brian Bond.
Together they would be James and Bond!! Of course if you don’t like Idris or Tim then hard luck. First mission would be to get inside the internet, they would be reduced in size by a special shrinking laser invented by Q. Then they would walk into a USB and plugged into a laptop. They would then be in the internet to battle with a virus which would look like a stormtrooper or something (need to give that a bit more thought).
Elba and Hiddlestone, together at last as James and Bond, in Firewall, licensed to kill Malware.

I think I need to add a little more detail but you get the drift. A bit radical sure but it could be done.

Of course, they would have to contend with the fact that a USB-A connector exists in a Quantum State which only collapses into "the wrong way up" when you try to plug it in. But I suppose they could take some solace in the fact it happens to everyone.

Yes but all the films show that any malware can be stopped if you unplug the monitor quickly enough. How would they get around that???
