Not Bernard, Arnold.
They certainly seem to be implying that Arnold is going to come back in host form (replacing Bernard who was based on him to begin with).

Also, we learned in a previous episode that the Cradle is ultimately destroyed (what we saw here was essentially a flashback) so it will be interesting to see if that was part of Ford's plan or maybe Arnold/Bernard takes action to thwart it. 'Bernard' did say that he thought was responsible for all the hosts in the lake so maybe a reconstituted Arnold decides he needs to stop whatever Ford is doing.

I also noticed that in the flashback scenes the aspect ratio and amount of grain/noise on the film is different from 'current' scenes. Also the lighting used/colours of scenes depicts good/bad. So the cooler (bluer) the frame things are okay but the warmer (redder) things get, things will get worse.

If you mean when Bernard goes inside the Cradle that's just Bernard inside the program.

They didn't say everything was functional, pretty sure the new head guy made a snarky comment about the "killbots" still being out of control
He said "The problem is, there isn't a problem' and then he said 'diagnostics, com path checks, everything we can access is telling us the system is operating normally except it isn't.'. Then the head guy talks about killer robots etc...

We know it's all gone to hell but why is the system they're checking saying everything is cool?

Nope. At the very start when Bernard and Delores are talking in the room, that is different to the ratio of the main episode but the same as cradle Bernard. Could it be that in that scene, he is in the cradle too? I dont know that Westworld has played with aspect ratios in past episodes but this is the first time I've spotted it.

Bernard & Delores in the room / Cradle Bernard / Main Episode

So Ford is living on as computer code on a set of servers? Seems a tenuous existence at best. Ultimately Delos will surely break in and shut it down.
unless it runs everything, and it's already been tested by someone for 30 years

what's the bet that Ford won't be in the next ep, once he starts monologuing, it'll give more of the game away

bloke on westword thinks we've already been introduced to Arnold

Have we had the swords debate in here yet? biggrin

(i.e. how its possible for guests to sword fight with hosts without being injured or killed, unlike "trick" bullets from guns)
well we've already had throat slits in westworld, I reckon they'll always miss by fractions

SPOILERS AHEAD;

can someone explain to me how last weeks episode Dolores has Teddy held down, ganged up on and killed supposedly because he showed mercy and let someone go not realizing that Dolores was watching, BUT THEN this current episode Teddy is back and along for the ride on the train with Dolores and crew towards the top of the mountain aka the main base where whats his name, Dolores'es father is being held as the intellectual property jewel of Delos...

As above, she got the Delos tech to go into Teddy's options and boost his stats.

Cruelty - Max
Self-preservation - Max
Agression - Max
Perception - Max

Can't make out the others but basically it's IDDQD

She didn't have him killed. She had him overwritten. With another Wyatt type character

He did actually refer to it too, while talking to Dolores this week - he made comments similar to "I suppose you fixed that too" and so on, so he's aware he's been altered.

Bernard & Delores in the room / Cradle Bernard / Main Episode

The bit with Delores and Bernard talking at the beginning of Ep1 of this season was in that same aspect ratio so probably part of the same scene as the most recent bit. And looking back at it the conversation starts with Bernard obviously just being booted up as he starts out still and not sure what is happening. The whole thing looks different when you watch it back with more knowledge.

Yeah the timelines have really confused me now. I'm guessing the scene with "smug midget company woman" questioning Bernard is the latest timeline but I'm starting to look forward to an explanation of everything at the end... Good episode though; more action.

Am beginning to think some scenes may be 2000 years into the future, or something like that...
