Touchscreen aside, Harry summed up my year with a Golf R when he said that most of the time you just aren't able to exploit the capabilities of the car and you're driving about in a standard Golf.
I found it incredibly dull to own.

I was almost relieved to have it stolen. Almost.

Replaced it with a GT86 which is fun at normal speeds and completely restored my faith in performance cars on British roads.

Conversely, I'm not really. I watched the first one and-a-bit, but haven't watched any more.

But then, I'm not really in to off-road bikes.
Me neither. I'm hoping Ian Tyrrell doesn't start getting bikes in his workshop!

At least Harry's BBBs (Boring Bike Bits) are incidental to his regular Sunday videos, not instead of. smile

This is pretty much the case with any fast version of a hatch or saloon car. The M3, M5 etc are 90% of the time the same as their cheapest siblings and certainly on U.K. roads you are only able to exploit the capabilities for short bursts

I think that's why the Golf has been my only foray into modern fast versions of everyday motors. It was so highly praised at the time though I thought it might buck the trend, but it didn't.

On the latest Lancia video, is the "table" they stick the rebuilt carbs and brake bits on an ironing board?!

Still, one for the blue suited middle management lot to boast about the numbers at their summer barbecue, in their postage stamp Bovis Homes garden, with the estate agent neighbour.
The snobbery (inverted or otherwise) on PH is ridiculous sometimes.

Excellent analogy that one, I might have to steal it from you if you don’t mind.

I’ve been really enjoying the Motorbike vid’s, haven’t got much of an interest in bikes usually but the mix of Dakar mystique and learning about the evolution of the bikes is really appealing to me.

I wonder if they manage to engineer out the awful sound of the drivers door closing on the XJ. What is it about British cars that they manage to make the doors sound so crap. My Mrs decided against an MGF many years ago purely on the sound of the door!!

After watching a bike is born which was repeated again the other week and watching Harrys bike vids I've booked my CBT for next month. He looked like he was having a lot of fun on them so its convinced me to have a go. I had no proper interest in bikes up to this point but its sparked an interest off for me.

Looking forward to seeing the builds finished too.

Did my direct access last year. It was great fun and I learned quite a lot. Definitely made me a better driver too.
Worth getting your full license imo, especially with the cbt only lasting two years.

Those cylinder heads would scare the life out of me.

As you say, atleast they're not Lamborghini parts.

I missed the conclusion on the heads. Are they going to try to fix the originals, despite the corrosion near the valve seats ?

Both cylinder heads were repaired last week with no issues, apparently. It's amazing what UK specialists can do these days. I thought one of them was scrap but when they went for machining, they found a way to sort the bad one and bring it back from the brink. Chuffed!
