So you're saying he's popular because he's popular. Right, thanks.
No. I'm saying that the reason he is popular on Strictly (in the sense that the public keep voting him through) is because he has a large fan base due to being a popular Radio 1 DJ. But I'm sure you knew that's what I meant; you just chose to be obtuse.
Edit: Or perhaps I misunderstood the question.

I'm asking why is he popular on radio 1? He's 40+, has no rhythm, and doesn't seem at all "sharp" or entertaining when interviewed. Admittedly I don't listen to radio 1, but I've seen his innuendo clips on YouTube and they are infantile.ash73 said:

Ahh, ok. With you now. I did indeed misunderstand the question. Well, yes, Innuendo Bingo is pretty infantile but then again it's meant to be and can be amusing sometimes. I don't get to listen to him much thgese days as he's on in the afternoon now, but when he had the Drivetime slot I found him amusing and used to enjoy listening to him. I guess others still do.
The fact that he's still a Radio 1 DJ at his age shows he's doing something right anyway. And anyone who has a loyal fanbase is going to do well on the public vote on Strictly. Especially when they have a strong loyal Twitter (1.2M followers) and Facebook (460k likes) following.
I realise that doesn't really explain why he's popular, but it does sort of explain why the public keep voting him through.
