Well I like Jodie Kidd, makes a refreshing change.

I suspect QW has a fantasy that he is Steed to her Mrs Peel (as he used to do with Kate Humble on Top Gear many yrs ago) but it's all good in my eyes.

I think it is a much better car program than TG, but, I guess that didn't need saying! smile

I enjoyed last night's episode.

So far, my £5k is going on the TR7! It will be interesting to see what the rest of the cars in this series will be?

I just caught up with the first episode last night. I didn't think it got off to a great start and I agree that Kidd needs to work on her skills as a presenter.

Mustang feature - not bad, but brief
Mercs - complete f'kin waste of time, the focus was on the people (nobodies), not the cars, and I can decide for myself which one looks better
TR7 - this was a very good feature, but I can't be bothered to tell you what I think of the TR7 on ttter. Sorry, Quentin.
Studebaker - the gist of it seemed to be "Here's a very rare Stude, but it seems to be a dead loss. Oh dear, how sad, never mind."
Ferrari - consisted entirely of artsy shots and Jodie Kidd telling us nothing other than how beautiful she thought the car was, as if we need our minds made up for us.

Thought they missed a bit of a trick with the Classic Car Club bit. Surely there was an opportunity for an article telling us all how these clubs worked (points per car etc) and then what the costs were like in comparison to actually owning a classic outright.

Or did he just hire the Corvette?

The lack of detail in the slots is a bit frustrating. Some nice eye candy and not a lot of detail sometimes.

Was a bit disappointed how they dismissed concours.

You would think Jodie Kidd got taught her presenting skills on CBBC. Slow and drawn out.

She's a boring washed up old clothes horse.

I agree on that- I've been wanting to join to CCC for years but can't financially justify it yet! Next year hopefully. I can forgive his presenting of the segment because he is rather nice to look at, which is rare on motoring programmes!

On the whole, I think I enjoyed this week more than last week. Loved the Corniche! smile

I enjoyed this episode a lot more, but I fear that that Best boy is terminally awful and his features aren't likely to improve. Thought the dismissal of concours was a bit pointless.

I'd be interested to know how much of a 'barn find' that Amilcar was because I 'discovered' it in June.

That's interesting.

When was that piece filmed then ?

Someone did rescue it after all.

Well that brightened my extremely dull morning. Yum.

She's still wooden in front of the camera and I got the impression the Rheims slot did only show part of the road. I suppose like the programme intro shows only a bit of Brooklands...
I think she's wooden in the studio bits but completely different (and much better) in the Rheims bit. If she sorts that out she'd do a good job.

All in the glittery box is not as it seems.

Utterly pointless fakery. This is the internet - surely they must realise they wouldn't get found out...

Hang on I recognise that show, was that on the A23 in Purley. I was there too, a few nice local cars were in attendance plus the odd hotrod or two

The Amilcar was next to an Elva and a Cooper single-seater. I was under the impression that they arrived together for a couple of reasons:
a) they were the only cars of a competition nature
b) they would all have arrived by trailer (Cooper's not road-legal; Amilcar had no floor; Elvas tend not to be driven on public roads)

I've not seen any of them since, although I'm aware that the Elva has competed in a couple of hillclimbs this year.

That's the one. It was a pretty good show for one only in its second year. I think the Mid-Surrey Roadsters did one in the same location back in the late '70s/early '80s.

I'm also interested why there was a show in Purley that I have not heard of.

Got any details Mr HP ?
