Both cylinder heads were repaired last week with no issues, apparently. It's amazing what UK specialists can do these days. I thought one of them was scrap but when they went for machining, they found a way to sort the bad one and bring it back from the brink. Chuffed!
Did they alloy weld the heads then re-machine them? That's how the heads on my Daimler SP250 were saved. A not uncommon problem with them, and they aren't exactly ten a penny these days.

Will the engine be dyno'd prior to re-installing?

I was thinking we ought to have a whip round and work out how many new subscribers to the channel are needed to get Harry the 7 litre conversion.

The overview of the engine condition was great to see.

Not sure why there was concern over the corrosion near the valve seat. That is a common issue and not a difficult fix. You certainly wouldn't consider putting it back together like that.

What amazes me is how all this work is costing so little once the overall price is broken down into hours worked. What's more, the work all seems to be done to such a high standard.

I stand by my earlier comment that I believe the project will go over budget but projects do and it's only money. I just hope it doesn't end up looking like a tarted up resto-mod.

Having said that, it's not my car nor my money, what's more, they started with a car that was virtually worth scrap at the beginning so it's to be applauded that one of these is being saved.

This is one of my favourite YT videos at the moment. Great content and love H's dedication to everything he touches.

Good to see Harry single-handedly supporting the automotive specialist of England through potentially tough economic times hehe

Indeed. But judging by the amount of polished ferrous oxide that was pumped through online auctions across 12 months of lockdowns, my guess is that scrappers, restorers and divorce solicitors are going to have a bumper 24 months.

I've really enjoyed both the Lancia and Jag video updates, in particular the satisfaction of dealing with a skilled and friendly specialist for the repairs.

Although they are charging you for the privilege I've often become quite friendly with the odd specialist and it's brilliant when you know they are fellow genuine enthusiasts and that you build a two way trust.

I found the CBT exactly the same, I think they are all a bit like that. More than half the day was taken up with being told all the various ways you would be killed.

L plates also make you a target even if you are the fastest thing on the road which is kind of possible on a 125 in town, ridden well.

Thoroughly enjoying both restorations, the Lancia particularly. What a fascinating engine.

Harry, I've loved your Dakar videos. I'm a biker but don't know much about off road bikes, however, can really take a lot away from your vids and riding along with you is really visceral on screen; particularly the top speed run on the Elephant!

True.

In theory, you can use your phone Touchscreen whilst it's mounted in a fixed holder. However, after being stopped and warned for doing so (and purely for doing so, no careless or indications of distracted driving) - I'd not risk it again. If I need to update sat nav destination, I now pull over into services.

Enjoyed Harry's dilemma upon learning the 7L conversion wasn't a bank breaker.

The real-time disappointment at the realisation that he was probably a week too late in making that visit was terrible - I predict Harry might be back there is less than a year smile

I think the Espada rebuild has given Harry wallet dysmorphia hehe

Yup. To counter that, they already drive nicely with a standard engine and the basic rebuild is probably going to give a good power upgrade without changing the whole character of the car or having to upgrade all the other things down the line.

Rational thinking never stops you having those moments though. biggrin

In addition, I'm not entirely sure the 7L conversions are much cop. I've only ever seen them in cars that are never used or dumped at Luffield as Malcolm Hamilton headed for the bar.

Harry didn't want the faff of the ancillary modification required - as he stated, new injectors etc and other gubbins.
