As it is not road legal and has never been registered for the road, pointless fitting air suspension plus why delete the rear wing

All in all an odd restoration. Putting air suspension on to make it more usable on the road when it was unlikely ever to be road registered was interesting. If the car was going to spend its time on track then you don't want air suspension as lowering the vehicle is done by reducing the pressure in the bags, which is the complete opposite of what you would want.

Always enjoy Car SOS, but is there a reason all the cars so far in this series are being restored by others.
I know a few have been done out of house before.
Hoping the usual team haven’t gone bust!

I thought there were a few contradictory bits of the build.
Air suspension to help the owner, but not road registered. The tyres looked like track day tyres, rather than road (might be wrong on this though).
If it was going to be a track car surely you'd fit harnesses, not standard seat belts....

I wonder how much it's been driven since the work was done. I'd wager not a lot.

I have been watching some of the older episodes at lunchtime and got into the bad habit of checking if they are still taxed or MoT`d. Sadly, most are not. Prime example yesterday was a BMW 2002 Turbo that they did a very nice job on, but only looked to have been taxed the following year and not since, not even on a SORN. Looking at prices, it would be worth approx £100k in the condition it was in when restored, so you really have to hope it wasn't just left sat on the driveway again.

Indeed, the Alpine GTA just shows as untaxed, not SORN.
Looks like it went through one MOT after being handed back (still current) and nothing done when the tax ran out.

The Porsche Targa is showing on DVLA site as red and not been taxed since 1984 so I guess was never taken on the road after it was handed over. Quite a few of their cars are either SORNed or not taxed.
Would it not have been more practical to buy a new body shell or is that not possible with that particular model?

Or put on a different plate. Targa was a 73 but on a V so probably imported in 79/80 as they didn't do age related in those days.

Doubt a shell would be available, pre impact bumper car.

Ended up as a triggers broom really as they did not have much to save.

It saddens me that it's had no miles put on it since restoration. Surely it's late owner would want it to be driven rather than just sat there?

I might be wrong but I believe it sat in a museum for a while, shame to see it for sale.

Pretty standard for a restoration, especially on one of these which rust to hell for fun. Most 'restored' cars end up like Trigger's broom. At least it was repaired with genuine Porsche panels from the factory, not Chinese pattern parts or stuff they'd made themselves.

Didn't they say the owner couldn't drive anymore for medical reasons? That would explain why it's never been on the road since.

I didn't see the end of the programme as I'm unwell at the moment and went to bed(!) but at the beginning, they said he had early onset dementia.
