Agreed, I remember crying as a kid when he ran over one of the robots. Was it Hughy and Dewey?
Yeah, I welled-up as a young adult at the time. I have never forgiven
Bruce Dern for his reckless driving.

IIRC, there were three little ones to begin with: Huey, Dewey and Lewey.

I wouldn't have Dune in the best list, the made for TV was better (just have to accept the big budget was not there for a movie version along the lines of LOR).

You need to watch 2001 and 2010 - arguably two of the most thought provoking and intelligent science fiction films ever made. The books are good too.

Watch them on the biggest screen and in the highest definition you can and just immerse yourself in the concept.

That may be but it's certainly better than some of the films on page 1 of this thread!

I didn't know there was a made-for-TV thingy of Dune.

hehe

No I have an Ellion box with 3 TB of memory and about 800 films stored.
Those are the ones that SWMBO has saved into the Sci-Fi folder.

We have a spreadsheet to keep track of what we have saved.

It followed the book (no neck thingies), but the production could have done with more money so your mind had to fill the background in a bit, they used some stunning CGI though for backgrounds etc. I suppose if you enjoyed the book you would like it. They did Children of Dune as well.

Both in my top ten. Love them. Love the concept. Love the style of filming. Love the little bits. Love the difference between the first and second films. Loved the books. Loved the soundtrack.

Best sci fi you can buy!

Got those. Good call on Enemy Mine, I'm surprised anyone but me remembers that
Loved Enemy Mine, a remake of Hell in the Pacific where a US and a Japanese soldier both get stranded on an island and then first try to kill each other before realising that the only way to survive is to work together.

Love both of them. He'll in the Pacific was one of the first war films I remember seeing. What struck me was the lack of dialogue in the first half of the film. Enemy mine is awesome, and I do a great Jerry impression! hehe

Back to the future, RoboCop and Starship troopers, all superb but not technically Sci-fi as they are all documentaries. yes
