Dragan?
Dragan: Yes.
XXXX: I've got an idea... Why don't you come 'round for breakfast? I'll squeeze some orange juice and grind some coffee and we can talk about this like adults. How's that sound?
Dragan: Sounds very hospitable.
XXXX: Do you know where I live?
Dragan: No.
XXXX: Well, fk off then.

Welcome to the Layer Cake son."
I have the film on DVD and never tire of watching it
Edit: it was a recommendation from PH that put in on my radar originally!
Gambon was awesome in Layer Cake - great film.

I know everyone says this, but the book is better.
Morty is better in it.
Clarkie is completely different and faaar more believable than a plumy Cambridge educated gangster.
Doesn't mean I didn't like it, just I think it got tailored for the American market. I don't suspect an innocent Yank tourist getting his head blown off in the middle of a park in London would have gone down too well, made for a hell of a twist first time I saw the film though!
Viva La Madness is pretty good, perhaps not quite a good as Layer Cake, can't see if being made though, not with DC anyway, he's got a bit big for it now.
I fear 'The Real Rocknroller' will go the same way - smallish UK based film, with a suitably small UK budget with Gerard Butler, Edris Elba and Tom Hardy & Guy Richie - simply getting their diaries lined up would be a huge task.

Guy Ritchie has said Rock n Rolla 2 will have to wait until he has a gap in his schedule.
Blame the success of Sherlock Holmes for that. As soon as the first one did a lot better than expected at the BO he was told to drop everything and get the sequel made. Don't mind, really enjoyed both.On the subject of LC, enjoyed it but thought it was a little overrated and I've never been a fan of Sienna. Seen her in the flesh and was rather dissapointed TBH. Nothing special IMO.
really enjoyed watching Layer Cake, and have done several times. An excellent cast and very slick. London Boulevard is a film with a similar ending. The premise being that whilst you are being clever sorting out the big fish, it is the little tiddler that sneaks under the radar and ultimately beats you..
..the most dangerous thing in the world is taking people too lightly and thinking they cannot possibly be a threat to you.

Frequently leads to very late, very tired and very grumpy yuppies stepping out of their cars and staring with bafflement at the bottle kilns and normal people.

Yeah, just when you think he's going to get away and live a happy life with the girl, Benny Blanco from the Bronx turns up and irons him out...the most dangerous thing in the world is taking people too lightly and thinking they cannot possibly be a threat to you.
