Erm, obviously the bit at the end of the credits - you know, the sunrise, the plane engines cranking up, the takeoff? No? Oh, well...

No chance.

For me it would have to be ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST.

Arguably that starting scene goes on for 2 or 3 scenes.

Maserati Quattroporte.

Paris at night.

A haunting soundtrack by Ludovico Einaudi.

Untouchable.

Is there a better start to a film, ever, than this? Gives me the full goosebumps.

Probably not critically great, but those roads, that car, that noise, the "sticking it to the man". I am suddenly 12 again. Good stuff. Makes me happy.
I loved it when I was 12 as it was very hard to see Countachs anywhere.

Now? utterly st film and ruined the Countach with that stoopid front spoiler - sorry

Right. Let's sort the buyers from the spyers, the needy from the greedy, and those who trust me from the ones who don't, because if you can't see value here today, you're not up here shopping. You're up here shoplifting. You see these goods? Never seen daylight, moonlight, Israelite. Fanny by the gaslight. Take a bag, c'mon take a bag. I took a bag home last night. Cost me a lot more than ten pound, I can tell you. Anyone like jewelry? Look at that one there. Handmade in Italy, hand-stolen in Stepney. It's as long as my arm. I wish it was as long as something else. Don't think because these boxes are sealed up, they're empty. The only man who sells empty boxes is the undertaker, and by the look of some of you lot today, I'd make more money with me measuring tape. Here, one price. Ten pound.
Excellent.....Lock Stock - brilliant film! Good start too.

Saving Private Ryan for me - just brilliant in 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound!

I think that there is a lot of shock and awe that is firing people up on the replies here.

Don't get me wrong, there's some seriously great intros there, The Italian Job for a starter.

On the other hand I love the subtlety of the start of Le Mans. 36 minutes before the first real dialogue. Those of you who are new to this fact but have seen the film, think back, did it really seem that long? Would you have guessed how long it was? The sights, the sounds, the images. Okay so perhaps not up there with QT on one of his better days for 'slickness' it conveys everything you need to know and that, to my eyes, is skill.

Pre-title sequence of 'Tomorrow Never Dies' is one of my favourites, in particular the sequence as the missile is en route to the arms bazaar. Though a lot of the rest of the film is a bit of a let-down.

I quite enjoy the opening of Layer Cake, especially the Audi RS6 and She Sells Sanctuary combination.

Not bad is it biggrin

To me it is very PH. Nice little mews apartment, subtle sledgehammer of a car, pulling up outside the tasty Stoke Park country club and meeting some seriously shady characters.
