Fear the walking dead.

Have to say I have two problems with the concept:
What happens after the outbreak takes full effect, will it just be a small group of survivors walking around again?
The characters won't know what's happening whereas the audience already do having seen the main show
It's hard to see how it has any legs long term as ultimately we know society breaks down etc so will just become another walking dead. What happens after the outbreak takes full effect, will it just be a small group of survivors walking around again?

I think Zombie stuff as a genre is probably done for now, I would like to have seen a series based on the World War Z book, different story every episode or three.
Saying that I watched this and it looks decent.
Downloaded *ahem* and watched this tonight.
Not really sure what to think. It was, as stated by others, very slow, but very intriguing too. Need a standout character, because so far none of them are doing it for me.
First episode wasn't awful, but it wasn't the best. I'll give it a chance, but only because I'm a huge TWD fan. I think if this was a different series I would've stopped watching half way through.

Zzzzzzzzzzzz.
Extremely slow and pretty tedious - the 'Young Johnny Depp' guy is super annoying but it appears that he is being built up to be the central character.
Picked up a bit at the end but difficult to see where it is going (other than Zombie apocalypse of course). Hopefully they'll show a bit more of what is going on with the wider public consciousness as things break down as it would be interesting to see how society at large handles it - the episode was extremely focussed on one small family group and their internal problems.
I'll keep watching because I like 'The Walking Dead' but not sure if I'd bother otherwise.

I think this would have been better if they had focussed upon the viewpoints of a few groups of people and individuals, rather than just a 4-person family (and maybe the guys ex-wife and Son, seen briefly).
They could have really shown all the stuff that was going on from different viewpoints to give the viewer a better overall picture, more variety and it could have provided multiple plotlines to converge later in the series.
A large part of the viewer base was obviously TWD fans who would have been looking for a couple of things. First, to see the outbreak and collapse of civilisation in progress (which we missed in TWD apart from a couple of short flashbacks) and second to see more Zombie action. So far, it's falling short of delivering either but there are still 5 episodes to come.

Give it time. I think we'll get those things, possibly. They could have really shown all the stuff that was going on from different viewpoints to give the viewer a better overall picture, more variety and it could have provided multiple plotlines to converge later in the series.

Bit confused where the zombies from the very beginning went though? Not like they were in the middle of nowhere
Given what was suggested to be happening in the hospital with the newly dead I'd expect the authorities are well aware of what is going on at this stage & a clean-up crew went in after his wild tale. What I thought was funny was that a) the parents just wandered into a shooting gallery in a bad part of town with no apparent problems or concerns and b) managed to leave an old pickup parked there *with the back window open* and nothing had happened to it before they came back, despite the number of stolen/stripped cars on the street.
Wasn't bad but nothing much happened really did it? A bit too much padding introducing too many characters. The original TWD pilot was much better, not much action in that either but more effective in building the dread. Still worth watching though.

I'm massively fked off that AMC and BT haven't got their act together to launch their channel in good time.
Instead this will go out a week after its gone in the states meaning UK viewers are a week behind unless they want to torrent it.

Uh, almost all USA shows that air in the UK are like this. Think yourself lucky you don't have to wait half a year like some programmes. Instead this will go out a week after its gone in the states meaning UK viewers are a week behind unless they want to torrent it.

It's just like films too, they're released months after in the UK.
