Sky Sports F1 is currently demonstrating what it *could* be, as it's currently showing live coverage of the Race of Champions.

So it could so easily be "Sky Motorsports". The only trouble is that if they did do that, then it would be very justifiable to then absorb it into the full Sky Sports package which obviously we don't want.

I've just found out about this the hard way. Home for Xmas thought I'd sit down and watch a season review.

Where the fk is the channel?

So I call Sky and learn that it's replaced with darts for now... WTF? Darts for F1?

I couldn't give a flying fk about darts!

bhed and moaned and they credited my account with £5 to make up for it. We're on the so called 'legacy' HD package, no interest in other sports channels... Can't stand football actually which seems to be 90% of the content.

What a load of crap eh...

Maybe this will be the switch to Virgin as we can get the 200mb broadband thrown in and save money to boot...

If you switch from a Sky Legacy to Virgin you will need a full Sky Sports subscription to watch the F1 channel. And if you then decide to go back to Sky you will also need a full Sky Sports subscription to watch the F1 channel.

As others have pointed out, it's only for a few weeks.

Didn't know this but don't really mind to be honest, darts can be a laugh but it's better while a bit drunk.

I agree that it should just be Sky Motorsport and they could have loads of stuff on there, maybe even a few motoring shows, there are plenty on Youtube they could show such as EVO etc. Proper car geek stuff rather than TG style entertainment.

Do they still show the motorbike trials thingy? I remember watching it around this time of year when Dougie Lampkin was doing his stuff and it was great fun, that would be another thing to put on it.

Yes, that would be great. Trouble is that Sky would be entirely justified in bringing such a channel into the Sky Sports package.

It's only temporary. It returns to being Sky Sports F1 in January.

As already stated if you go to Virgin Media you will have to subscribe to the FULL Sky Sports pack to get F1, and if you want it in HD you will have to stump up extra for that too. I believe it's about £30 to add Sky Sports in HD to Virgin Media.

Sit tight, wait until January (the precise date that it returns to being Sky Sports F1 escapes me at the moment), and then relax.

In effect they already did, if you subscribed after 1 April 2013 then the only way you can get F1 on Sky is to subscribe to the full Sky Sports pack.

It seems Sky have removed my legacy F1 subscription despite no change to my Sky package (been extremely grateful to ensure no changes)

Ist call yielded, you won't get F1 unless you have Sky sports, then you'll get non HD F1 (neither work) then it's all still there, I'm sending the package to your Box, it may take 4 hours to update!

I have no faith it'll reappear given they're the only two channels that don't work now that did in the past!.

Has anybody successfully resolved a similar situation?

I was worried for a minute there, so I checked my Sky F1 HD and if is still there. I negotiated a reduction before Christmas and a big part of it was keeping my legacy package. If all else fails, threaten to leave!

A colleague at work, who is also into F1 and also on the Sky Legacy HD package, found the channel blocked, inaccessible, and demanding £17-odd pcm to re-activate. Phoned up Sky with his sleeves rolled up bruising for a rumble (and concerned that I would be in for similar) and it turned out to be a hiccough and they reinstated it forthwith. I confess that when he told me the anecdote I interrupted him and asked him to cut to the chase and tell me if I was losing F1 too. smile

So, phew. biggrin

As I said to him, there are many of us on this thread who are also hanging onto the Legacy HD package through hell and high water to just keep the F1.

An Hour long call and lot's of different resets didn't change anything, the problem has apparently been transferred to the Viewing Card Escalations Team!
