"My bad" is surely the ultimate. It was nowhere until Clueless and now it's full lexicon.

I would credit that to the Buddy Holly song rather than a movie (although it's been a common enough expression for many, many years - even before Buddy Holly made it famous).

I'd say Jim Lovell and Jack Swigert made that famous during the real mission. Of course, the film (made 25 years after the real events) also reinforced it. But as an expression it was very well known.

Of course, it is, in fact, a misquote. The actual words were -

Swigert - OK Houston,We've had a problem here
Houston - Say again
Lovell - Houston, we have a problem. We've had a main Bus B undervolt.

You can hear the actual dialogue starting from 3.20 on this video

One quote that can be directly attributed to the movie "Apollo 13" is "Failure is not an option". The line was given to Ed Harris as Mision Controller Gene Kranz although Kranz never actually said it. However, Kranz liked it so much he used it as the title of his (very good) autobiography as he felt it did accurately sum up his approach to being a Mission Controller -

Is this thread now just quote your favourite lines from films now? Very few of those listed are every day expressions.

Sorry not a film, but originating from Hawaii Five O: "Book 'em Danno".
Popular in the 80s, probably some old people still using it.

I heard, many years ago, that Buddy Holly wrote That'll be the day after hearing John Wayne say it at least once and possibly more (my memory is not good on that point) in a film. It was possibly the Searchers.

So, I guess that one has gone full circle. Started off as a line from a movie, became a song, became a saying, became a movie.
