Second episode was pretty good even if JdV was his normal irritating self. Interesting 964 converted to electricity now with 500 bhp over the usual 250.
A classic car with its engine removed is like a bloke with his tackle cut off. Not a bloke, in other words. A 964 with an electric motor is not a 964, more like a kids toy. Might as well install pedals.
Might also be an opportunity for said bloke to have a decent bit of tackle attached that the women might enjoy.

Lots of women will probably state they have male partners that could do with an engine update! Lol

Depends on the Classic.

We had Mrs B's 1970 Fiat 500 converted to electric power by Electric Classic Cars just before lockdown. It transformed the car into a willing little go-cart. It's just great fun.

We also own a 964. I wouldn't dream of converting it.

My tackle is intact and in tip top condition. biggrin

500 reliable hp in a car used for fun days out instead of a leaky, farty old six pot. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Why is Karun Chandok brought back every time?

The problem Fifth Gear have had for several years is that it's just a bit st.

Which is how to describe Karun Chandok as a presenter..

A Tiptronic 964? Possibly. But, not with a manual, IMO.

You need £250k as well to make the transition and have a donor car.

At 250k I'd buy something a bit better built. Like a house.

I’d imagine if you could afford to spend that on an electric conversion you’ve already got a decent abode or two.

What can you say?

What a ghastly pre-scripted propaganda broadcast for EV’s. Rory playing the clued up enthusiastic younger generation who ‘gets’ EV’s and proves to older dinosaur Plato how great they are. Plato seeing the light and describing them as ‘good piece of kit’. ‘Piece of st’ would be more accurate. ‘Range 192 miles’, Plato, ‘That’s awright!’ Not for me it isn’t. Then producing a load of distorted statistics to prove that EV’s are better value. Pathetic PC sellout. Do you think Clarkson for all of his faults would have spouted that nonsense for the cameras?

Lamborghini in there to bring in the viewers, though I detest VBH for taking her thirty pieces of silver to encourage the compensation crowd to attack Mercedes.

Some nice looking cars at the Munich Show, particularly the Audi and the R5. Useless to much of the potential market, but nicely styled.

I will never but never watch that disingenuous rubbish again.
I totally agree with this observation, I am not sure if others see it or not, or don't care. Because the whole automotive sector is now locked into EV's due to all the UK and EU green legalisation over the next few years, this means they are pressuring influencers in the media, tv and social to start towing the line and promote EV's, even if in the current state of evolution they are mostly still second rate to petrol cars both in terms of range, longevity and environmental impact.

As a tv programme maker, YouTuber and/or motoring hack, there must be a real carrot and stick going on to promote EV's and 'join the program'. AutoTrader on YouTube has started doing some really shtie vids on EV's 'buying secondhand EVs' etc. The Late Brake Show and Petrol Ped also peddle the EV propaganda (Petrol Ped seems much more commercially chummy with local dealerships etc than most).

Thankfully the likes of JayEmm try and walk a straight line, but the pressure and incentives to push the EV line must be massive.

I don't mind, if it wasn't for the fact we are all mostly being sold a dog with the whole EV propaganda machine.

I agree with you both - sadly however EVs have been mandated by the powers that be so we'll have to stick on a st eating grin and go along with it. There is, currently, no other way...

Don't watch shows about EVs and don't buy an EV? A bit like gay sex. Lots of it about but why would you dive in to sausage TV and sausage coddling if you weren't into sausages? Or like ITV is aimed at the less intelligent and educated members of society but watching is optional.

I’m enjoying it and no clue why as no interest in anything non hybrid but learning how expensive it can be too

Home charger, 1000 if your worthy but we know we will need a specialist around to make the electrical safe

That Honda is so cute for inner city but the Koreans have it nailed in the Kia & Hyundai’s for sheer style

Saw one of those Hondas in the flesh recently (same blue colour) and have to say it did look quite a cool little city car.

I quite enjoyed 5th Gear when it was just Stiff, Plato, VBH and Johnny Smith.....but it dropped off hugely in quality when they sacked Needles and brought in the idiot from Gob-Off Garage, and Chandhok who sadly ticks a box and offers nothing else.

Now it's gone EV, I've not even bothered with it.

Same here. Much better stuff on YouTube now. I'm not an EV fan, but I find Johnny's reviews of them quite interesting.
