I’m new to the whole survivor franchise and have only ever seen the UK version and I am enjoying it. Apart from the letters from home, that can right off, I fast forwarded all of that.

I think Christopher’s mincing about in the challenge he tried to throw will come back and bite home very soon. Or at least I hope it will.

Which other series are worth looking out for? USA and Australia?

We've only watched Australia and it's great.

US is great up until about Series 40 but its hard to find via normal sources. Australia is like what US used to be (only from Series 3 onwards when they changed the format) and I would say is better than US now (which went PC / woke). The host Jonathan Lapaglia is great and its definitely more hardcore and better players all around. They were all on Prime. I still need to watch the last couple but they are long like 30+ episodes.

There was a similar programme on in the 90s hosted by Mark Austin (I think, he of newsreader fame) called Survival or something. That was much grittier.

Also the Bear Grylls thing, that was much better.

This is like Married at First Sight meets Geordie Shore. Absolute tripe.

Mark Austin presented the first series of Survivor UK along with John Leslie. It was better than this current version but still nothing compared to US / AUS versions.

Was it really? All that time ago?

I seem to remember that was quite good viewing.

Now the game has began, at merge.

Really great to see the Survivor auction returnyes

The music is growing on me. It's good to have different music.

Challenge. HUGE mistake by final 4 to demonstrate how strong their alliance is.

Airhead Barbie and Curly Chrislaugh

Shame Lee went. I was warming to him. Had him down to final 5/6 before a blindside

I love the auction but it always frustrates me how bad people play it (same for all series). They had 2,500 pesos yet are low balling at 100-400 for food then stop bidding. More than half of them must have gone away with most, if not all, of their cash left. Bonkers when that hungry. No blind items offered either.

5 weeks in and only now realised that both episodes go live on sat night so don't have to wait until sunday for 2nd. I wont say anything about that yet to avoid spoilers.

Yes strange that about both no blind items and iPlayer double episodes.

I believe the US version is airing atm but I avoid that until finished and then usually watch a couple a night.

Yes, that's what I thought. Some of the women didn't bid at all, as far as we could see. Perhaps they were hoping for better items to bid on. We did laugh at the guy who won the bacon butties though, draining the tomato ketchup bottle while he had the chance hehe

Still watching this and loving it. Really pleased with last night's tribal council vote off!

Loving the challenges, really tough ones. Two great tribals as far as votes but Joel is still fairly weak in questions. Saw last nights coming a mile off, the second someone says they're feeling confident in the game is the very moment you're fked

Been a bit slow to catch up. Nice to see people playing the game and not just coasting with numbers to the end. Chris annoys me but he has some fight in him and I always like a underdog.

Also glad that Nathan called out Lawrences BS of trying to keep his nose clean by not voting Tuneke but at the same time not voting Chris which sealed her fate.

An odd format that means some of the weakest, least liked members make the final

I guess that depends on how you define weak.

It’s not just about being the strongest and best at challenges etc … you need to take in to account the social side and gameplay side of things too. You could say that the final 3, and definitely the winner embodied all of strengths needed to reach the final.
