Late to the party with this but wow this show broke me.

I thought the first 8 or so episodes were quite easy-going, reflecting on how the decisions we make as we age close future options. For me the wedding episode is where the tone changes, when Dex reveals his situation. The box room scene is well done too. My allergies were quite bad that day ;-)

Ambika Mod's ability to convey emotion, even without words, really made the series for me, and I think this is what makes the show linger in my mind.

I expect both leads will do very well during awards season.

Just finished watching this with the wife. It bumbles along with the two leads in different leagues of attractiveness. nostalgia was high and the music good.

Cars used in period were mostly good apart from the Headteachers facelift Mondeo estate in 1995, when the face lift came out in 96/97. Compounded by the fact that they stuck it on a 91 J reg plate. rolleyeshehe

An enjoyable watch although the Emma character looks and appears exactly like a friends wife still does and once seen I couldn’t unsee

Haha, exactly the sort of thing I spot - I think I said in the Netflix that they had a much later LDV Convoy minibus on a C plate. It probably isn't that easy to find period correct vehicles!

The Mondeo stood out to me too. I also think they played the Norman Cook mix of ‘Brimful of Asha’ a year too early. The original was about in 1997 but the remix wasn’t out until 1998.

However, despite my nerdiness with some dates, I thought it was a great series. It’s not what I’d usually choose to watch but I’m very glad I did.

This is a truly outstanding series. Watched it over two nights and by the end it had broken my partner and I wasn't far behind. An emotional rollercoaster. At first like many people I found the casting to be odd, but by the end I realised it was genius. Both were incredible. As were many of the other characters.

Not many TV shows live with me the next day, most are instantly forgotten. But this will stick with me for a long time, can't stop thinking about it. The scene with his mum, the restaurant, the entire last episode. Jeez. What a show.

I'm the same, it hit me hard and was still with me for a few days afterwards. Actually still with me one week later as I happened to be up in Edinburgh this weekend (pre planned), visited a few of the scene locations as it seemed rude not to. Arthur's seat seems much taller in real life!

I’ve just started watching Alice & Jack on Channel 4. Similar concept to One Day - following a couple through the years who clearly love each other but aren’t taking the easy route to happiness.

Didn’t start off as good, but it’s really growing on me.

Just finished this. No clue on the book. For some reason we watched 7 episodes and then got distracted. It was only when someone at work mentioned an ending I didn't recall that we realised we had another 7 to go. Utterly gripping and final episode me and the mrs just looked at each other with very wet eyes and lumps in our throats. Emma was outstanding from start to finish. Dex was definitely a grower.

Franke Knuckles - Your Love.

The first 30 seconds is heaven because I watched this as it came out.

Just finished Episode 11 so far (1998).

It starts off slow and you think why would they be together but just builds slowly as you see their lives come together.

So much nostalgia of the late eighties and nineties in this.

The soundtrack just brings it all back.

For those on Spotify the playlist is here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/37i9dQZF1DXdohq5...

The acting from the two leads is amazing and just draws you in.

Loving it so far.

Still got three episodes to go...

I have finished the series and whilst I thought the acting from the two leads was superb I just didn’t like the male character and this meant I couldn’t enjoy the series as much as I think I should have. He had absolutely no redeeming features at all as far as I am concerned and Emma would have had a better life had she never met him.

Just finished watching this and can heartily recommend. It's fantastic. I had read the book a while ago but my wife hadn't; we watched it together and I knew what was in store near the end, but didn't want to spoil her enjoyment. No spoilers: let's just say she suddenly found the room rather dusty.

Another thing I don't recall being mentioned is the wonderful part played by Tim McInnerny; great stuff.

I went through it really enjoying it but the last few episodes make it.

Haven't seen it but I know Jonny Weldon is in it. I watch his Twitter videos which are very funny, mostly based on him being an out of work actor pretending to not be out of work, which was probably his precise situation at the time.

Spookily I've just got over to Twitter to find his videos and he appeared top of the page with his latest tweet..

Scroll down a few tweets to his last video, probably made some time ago before he got too busy doing One Day

I knew I’d seen him somewhere before but couldn’t place it!

Very much enjoyed this, just finished watching tonight. I thought they’d done really well in getting the clothes and furnishings spot on for the years.

The playlist on Spotify is well worth searching for.

I finally got around to finishing this last night.

What a series!

10/10

It was very dusty in the room with the final 2 episodes.

Great acting by both leads, a great soundtrack (Playlist on Spotify that I've been listening to in the car - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/37i9dQZF1DXdohq5... and it really makes you think hard about your own life journey.

I will have to give the book a read as well.
