The problem was they were trying to hard to make it appeal to a wide audience after series 6 and it went st (I believe to get the backing for a film).

Love the first 6 series just wish 7 and 8 hadn't been such a mess.
Your missing the big picture about seasons 7 and 8

I have to say I didn't find it as funny after about series 5 (though I start to forget which series was which!).. I do think you can tell when the budget suddently shot up though....

Forgot about her! Has Chloe Annett done anything since? I vaguely remember crime traveller. Michael French is now doing his stiff boring dr routine in casualty. Haven't seen anything from Chloe though?

Could be good, could be arse. I hope it's closer to the first six series in style. But how are they going to get out of the end of the season 8? Looked like curtains...

It was, but Red Dwarf was melting. Not much you can do to stop that...

A decent show spoiled by the ability of Chris Barrie to continue to breath in and out.

I really wish he would stop it.

I love Red dwarf but the quality did deteriorate in series 7, the change to film stock and convenient plot changes just ruined it, although there was the odd good bit.

I'll definitely be checking this out, but not holding my breath that it will work. I think it's been too long now, they wasted too much time trying to get the movie made, when they should have just made another series.

I hope it works, but I suspect it'll tank - I mean, Blackadder worked after X years didn't it (!)

I like season 1 for the nostalgic effect, 4 and 5 had some great shows and 6 stands at the top. I didn't like 7 but strangely liked 8.

I watched the film JFK last night and I know its a serious turning point in history etc but I just can't stop thinking as I was watching this serious film that Kryten would appear at some point on the grassy knoll and shout "duck"
hehe

Epic fail potential is high, a lot will depend on how well it's written. Blackadder, the time travel one, just wasn't funny. Only Fools, where they revived it after they'd become millionaires, also wasn't funny and had too many stupid plot conveniences ("oh no the stock market is crashing, we've lost all our money" banghead ).

Very good in it's day, but crap in the later seasons.

The books are better by the way.

What's Chris Barrie been up to lately? I know he had a few supporting slots in films (like TombRaider for example), but I've not really been much of a TV person the last 5 years or so.

(Although I did pass him in Edinburgh airport a couple of years ago and managed to just gawp a bit and completely not bother him for an autograph hehe )

As for the show itself - a small miniseries might work, like The Peacekeeper Wars did for Farscape, but I don't think it can sustain a relaunch of the series.
