Hattie Hayridge only appeared as Hilly in the episode where the crew met themselves in a parallel universe. (End of series 2)
Holly (the male one!) then decided he liked the look of Hilly so changed himself to look like her. (Which is how they wrote Hattie in as a character from series 3)
Agree that Norman was far and away the best Holly though.

Actually went to a Red Dwarf convention @ Leofric hotel in Coventry a few years ago, Norman is one of the funniest people I have ever met.Holly (the male one!) then decided he liked the look of Hilly so changed himself to look like her.
