Well I spent the whole of 'Ice Road Truckers' waiting for some meathead to fall through all that creaking really thin filmed-from-the-underneath ice, and they didn't.
A truck did half go in one week but I agree in the most dissapointing

Ben
I seem to rememebr that in the past 30yrs not one ice truck driver has died. Not one. The people who do die are the ones that make the road in the first place on those snow cat type machines. But they don't tell you that on the show, they keep you imagining that at any minute the trucks called just fall through the ice.
yeah, but they wouldnt get much viewing if it was - oooh, look at these big heavy trucks driving on a frozen lake... but its okay, because non of them has ever died...

You'd think "oh, thats cool" and then switch off..

As simpo and ben proved, most people carried on watching, hoping to see a truck going through the ice... which is why they beef up the risk and make it seem more of a drama than it is...

the same with this program - take the chain to the head - oooh, he could have died...

As it is, i found the technology discussion quite interesting - learning about the methods used for drilling... though i imagine ill get bored very soon..
