came across some site where they read the koran and other books

http://www.faithfreedom.org/Articles/sina/ayesha.h...

there is a searchengine called the religion of peace, it shows a rather violent blood soaked view on life for such a "peaceful" religion

suspect mohamed's life story will be glossed out, not sure how they can make the cartoon without keeping him faceless smile

2 questions, how do modern muslims view his child bride and surely a muslim would know how the name is spelt ?

I'd guess that the english spellings of Muhamad/Mohamad/etc are phonetic approximations of the names pronunciation, and in Arabic, there is only one spelling, ergo the english versions of the name are all technically correct.

IIRC either by claiming that the ages were translated wrongly or by justifying it with examples of western equivilants (normaly 12/13 year olds, still wrong but not 6!)

Im 95% certain that the correct spelling is Muhammad, as for the child bride shenanigans, to be honest no one is aware of the true age and we never will know.

some translations seem to suggest 6 years old, with consummation of the marriage at 9, guess the baby popped out around 10 or 11 ?

If you google about it there are suggestions that in the Yemen ( wherever that is ) the age of consent is still 9 years old so long as they are married. It is also suggested that this is allowed because of these translations.

I think I read they are trying to change the laws but this practice still carries on apparently.

Can anybody throw any light on this as to whether this is true or not ?

Ummm, there already is a Muhammed (pbuh) movie. It's called 'the message', good film too... although my favourite character was Hamza becuase he was the hard man....

With the child bride thing that stuff was the norm and accepted back then, not only limited to muslims either. Don't forget that blokes were ordering armies around at 17 so people generally matured and became real men a lot quicker then. Anyway so the guy married someone young, big deal, who am i to judge him, he's the prophet not me.

Hmm,

bit unsure about this

OK, we're talking many, many moons ago (if) but even then a 9 year old would have looked a 'tad' young no matter how odd you were, no?

But with the 2 examples above (like the 70 year old) we're talking about modern day, so no matter what country/religion its totally fking out of order, end of!

put it another way, moohammed met his wife when she was 6, presumably they could tell if she was having periods or not, so guess at 9 when she started periods would have been the time for her to give him babies ?

given that the ages are in the koran and it's followers use the text to justify child brides and the like.....

How can the same name be at 16 and 65.confused

What I do find strange though is that all these people who profess to follow somebodies clap trap can't decided how to spell the guys name.

Given there are no correct english spellings, just phonetic representations of the arabic pronunciations, does this surprise you?

Or are you and others ignoring this explanation so you can have a dig at the resident PH muslims? scratchchin
