Dakar coverage is rubbish.
I have "Cherman" Eurosport where I live but can switch commentary to English. I HATE the background music they insist on adding, with the commentary, to the already very short Dakar highlights every day.
Does that background music exist on the Dakar highlights on UK Eurosport?

MotorsTV is independent of Eurosport, hence Eurosport outbidding them on Le Mans and Le Mans Series coverage and then not showing the races in full.
Back to the Dakar Series-Link issues, I watched the late show over breakfast, had to fast-forward through an hour of cricket first, pity anyone who was trying to watch it live.

Eurosport is great for MotoGP coverage (due mainly to the presenters - Moody and Ryder), and much better than the BBC.
But what really annoys me about them is their arbitrary use of ad breaks; more often than not right in the middle a key piece of action, and usually cutting the presenter off mid-sentence!
I always imagine that there's some young French person doing work experience in their Paris studio, tasked with pressing the 'advert' button when the big hand gets to twelve.

I love Eurosport.
It is one of the most watched chanels on my TV.
You've gotta love their moto gp, cycling and rally coverage. I also watch hours of cross country sking and biathalon.
I've been known to watch full tour de france mountain stages (sometimes > 6 hours).
Their coverage of the Tour de France is superb, but you're a better man than me if you can put up with six hours of Harman and Kelly! It is one of the most watched chanels on my TV.

ESPN have won the right to broadcast the WRC this year and are about to put more hours on TV than any other channel, so if rallying is your bag, you'll be needing to reset your boxes
Seriously?! Does that mean I'll have to subscribe to ESPN on top of my current Sky subscription, or will Dave or any of the other channels still be showing highlights?I would love to spend hours over a weekend watching WRC and other motorsport, but for the same reasons I never get to sit down and watch the BTCC on ITV4, it isn't going to happen - I need my highlights program on Sunday evening!!
Don't know about subscriptions, but here is the official blurb:

ESPN, the world’s leading multinational, multimedia sports entertainment company, has reached an EXCLUSIVE agreement with North One Sport, the promoter of the WRC, to show the sport in the UK.
Maybe no longer on Dave? If so I don't think I can justify another £12 a month on TV.Remember when they made wrc.com a subscription service? AFAIK no one wanted to pay and IIRC they ended up dropping the subscription the next year.
ETA: I got the price wrong, but still not gonna pay it!

Last night while I was waiting for the 11pm highlight show they had a cricket match overrun. First time I've ever really enjoyed a cricket game! very exciting, was Barbados v Hampshire - so didn't mind that the highlight prog was delayed.I'm another fan of Eurosport as it's in the basic Virgin media TV package - their MotoGP coverage is excellent.
I think their previous years Dakar coverage has been better but they're probably doing the best they can with the finances allotted to them.
