Wheeler dealers gone down hill

I just wish they would stop "$5k. That's about £3.5k". We know its a US car show now, USD will be fine.
Ant doesn't make many adjustments for the US audience. In the 3000GT episode, he talked about the "active spoiler on the boot", "the gear change and gearbox", and chucking an old part "in the bin".Alex said:

Might have to try and find that on the net to listen to that for a laugh....
Mind you, very few people pronounce it correctly anyway, however, not usually THAT incorrectly.....muppet.

I had always pronounced it for years as Cun-tash as well, until I worked with a lovely female Italian Engineer back in 2003, who was also a bit of a petrolhead, and I then found out that it should be correctly pronounced as Koon-tuck
Almost deserves a thread: "What is the correct way to pronounce Countach?"There has always been the odd piece of misinformation on Wheeler Dealers. Almost inevitable over time really. One particular standout point was when Edd was fitting a stainless steel exhaust and said it contains no iron as an explanation for why it won't corrode.
Perhaps a coincidence or my imagination but it seems like there has been an increase in misinformation in the new series with Ant. I think its twice now I've heard him claim that bigger HT leads mean more power. In some circumstances that can be correct but mostly it's not, and as a standalone comment is, at best, misleading.
Anyone else noticed this? I think it's a shame given the programme was initially conceived to show what can be done by the home mechanic. I know we're a long way from there now, but misinformation seems to hurt the most for me.

Yes, there were a few Edd errors on occasions. The one that always grated on me, and was repeated often by both Edd and Brewer in the one episode, was the Mustang fastback one, where they both kept banging on about it being a .67 Mustang fastback, the same the one used in the film Bullitt.........

Something that's dawned on me after watching every episode Ant's been in and there's always been at least one shot of him in weightlifter pose carrying an exhaust or hood, errr..., bonnet. Considering how shallow US producers are, did they oust Edd because they wanted some eye-candy element?
There's something uncomfortably homoerotic going on there. How long before we see Ant in just a towel in a locker room....?!
Hmmm. Ford Ranchero leads to Ant flexing his muscles once again wearing a cowboy hat. There's something uncomfortably homoerotic going on there. How long before we see Ant in just a towel in a locker room....?!
Channeling his inner Brokeback....?

Did anyone else cringe when he knocked the bolt out of the rear leaf spring and just let it fall. "ooh that was close".

That wouldn't have happened on Edd's watch - gearbox jack would have been under it or some bungee cords. The cynic in me says it was done for "fake drama".........I just wish they would stop "$5k. That's about £3.5k". We know its a US car show now, USD will be fine.
I’ve been watching WD since the very beginning when Edd used to paint wings with a rattle can (I’m sure that was a Capri) recently IMO it’s lost it’s way and needed to change.
Personally I’ve really enjoyed this latest series 14, there’s less mucking about, more car time and I personally I was never a big Edd China fan, the relationship between Ant and Mike just seems a bit more natural.
I agree with earlier comments that it’s a bit slick and too far removed from what you can do in your own garage at home, but it’s still a good watch.

I'm very late to WD, only started watching them from the beginning last year, so have seen the series develop over a short time, the very early ones are perhaps a bit low-rent, but really enjoy the rest.
I was sad Ed left, but think Ant is doing fine, although did you see the bolts securing the light bar protruding into the Dodge cabin and right beside Ant's head, that could be a sore one over a rough road.
